Lol no. They introduced alpha characters in order to draw players to the game, in order to lower the barrier to entry and hence get more paying customers. It’s not rocket science. It’s the reason why most MMOs have become F2P, but have certain features locked behind paywalls.

Literally yes. If you have an alpha account, you still count as an active player, just not subscriber. I’m sure they include you in the numbers. So uh, CCP still wins

It is getting deeply involved with the game and the game environment, which is also known as immersion. You can just as easily immerse yourself in a game for its gameplay, its environment, or its lore, as you can by RPing. I’ve spent hours reading up on WH40K lore, immersing myself in that universe, despite not owning any miniatures or pretending I’m a space marine. I’d still hate it if a faction suddenly found the wreck of a star destroyer by a warp rift.

It’s like reading a book like the Silmarillion. You immerse yourself for the worldbuilding and the underlying narrative, rather than an attachment to any one character or pretending you’re a character in that book.

Again, no. It breaks any reasonable action that any faction within EVE would take. Daleks are a genocidal alien race. If capsuleers can get from New Eden to wherever the Daleks are, it stands to reason that the Daleks can travel the other way. If they can, they would invade k-space and attack everything they see, as they’re genocidal. Once the empires realise the threat, they’d band together and some major aspects of gameplay should stop to make sense in-universe, like FW. Once the limited time event was over, would the empires suddenly know and start FW again? Or would they start preparing again, a la Ender’s Game?

If the goal was new content and gameplay, you could easily have the same by introducing a new CCP-concept alien race, rather than relying on an IP that’s 60 years old.

No it doesn’t ROFL, considering we’re going there, not them coming to us. And no, they can’t travel to EVE per the owners of the IP, who control the lore and the canon. No matter what you think can happen, its moot unless CCP says otherwise. So this alternative storyline you are concocting means nothing because it isn’t official. Its basically wattpad fanfic.

CCP explained that it’s because of some rare new materials and tech you can make filaments to go to Who-space, PLUS, a new and rare natural phenomena that allows this crossing which will end at the event close.

So it would seem it is a temporary thing…

But…even CCP says this confirms multiverse in the EVE game so who knows what may happen next.

As they can as owners of the IP, which can dictate lore and canon. Hell, CCP could retconn everyone tomorrow as being part of the Matrix and New Eden is simply a simulation and there ain’t sweet all you can do about it.

The ingame event is an advertisement for a failed franchise. Not even Dr Who fans like Dr Who anymore.
The game is going to be permanently ruined because from now on, this game’s lore is going to be polluted with trash IRL ads.

These items will never be removed from the game. You will see them on a daily basis. And they exist for the sole purpose of advertising.

From what I have heard, there will be some new clothing and skins. Otherwise nothing else will remain after the event.

Homeworld was on sale. Playing that, and Gods Will Be Watching. Maybe i’ll do a replay of Icewind Dale after that. I’m just gonna start replaying older games. Let the kids have their turd sandwiches.
