What has anything to do with Career Agents or introduction to EVE? What has "not dying to lancers to do with introduction to EVEâs mechanics and features? They are red, if you shoot them, they shoot back. Thatâs what the CA and NPE tells you already. (fun fact: the previous NPC made you shoot and kill Lancer like ships with Noob Ships. Talk about idiotic CCP design. ): If itâs red, it will shoot you and you should stay away. More detailed and intriguing aspects of the lancers (eg. that they will follow you around youâll figure out if you give in to your curiosity. And thatâs a good thing. Why should the game explain this to you? What the game could do instead, and this would be actually helpful to newbies (in contrast to your handholding approach), is to show a couple of information tooltips once you attacked those lancers which tell you that they will follow you around, they will attack you if you get too close the wormholes in Unidentified Wormhole sites and so on. This would allow people to discover the game by themselves and experiment and when they discover âimportantâ aspects of the game, the game supports them with information.
What about Edencom vs. Trigs? That has nothing to do with introductions at all. What do you even want to tell newbies with regards to those? That they should just go to Poochven in a long range ship with a TP, tag a rogue drone, wait for it to die, and then ignore literally everything related to the content because they now have positive standing to both sides? Is that what you want the game to tell newbies because that is exactly what it is about in high sec and low sec. Or do you want the game to tell them how Edencom systems are worthless and all the action happens in Poochven because CCP completely trashed Edencom and only focuses on Poochven?
And what about the 90% content that people are supposed to miss out on? What content isnât covered by the CA? Poochven is just combat in complexes against NPCs. Thatâs covered by the Military CA. Abyssal space? You have the T0 filaments for introduction and since this is not a beginner thing but a more advanced activity, you have enough time to read up on those things and actually profoundly inform yourself with videos. Wormholes? They are supposed to be unknown and unexplored. CCP even turned off data gathering for j-space so that people have a harder time dealing with it. Why should every little bit about how to get in there, how to navigate there, how to rat/explore there be explained? Have you ever heard of Discovery and Exploration?
What content is missing from the CA that absolutely needs to be explained there?
And that is the problem. thank you for correcting your own statement that EVE shouldnât be an arcade. You now said that EVE needs to be an arcade because people canât be bothered to read the plentifully available information about literally every aspect of the game. And that is provided in detailed form and maintained by the players and not by CCP.
I donât know if you had a look at the last at least 5 or 6 releases from CCP but all of them were riddled with bugs, rush-released onto TQ despite known significant flaws reported by the community in the 2 alpha test phase and contained in several instances removals of features that the community had to fight for to get them back (like proper and detailed information in the new skill catalogue). If expecting CCP to properly develop their gameâs features is considered whining and toxic behavior, what else are we supposed to do? Just accept that CCP removes features and be blissfully ignorant about it like Geo Eclipse or Aisha?
yeah, and if you shoot too much of them, you get -5 standing and are shot on sight without a mechanic to get that back.
You are getting into your own bubble. I am not saying that it should be an arcade. Nothing about the mechanics of this game is arcade as it is a grindfest. I am not saying tell newbies about everything, but let them know what is out there so they are not stuck in a venture mininig veldspar cause the CA touches very briefly on what you can do about other things.
Escalations of sites and the whole aspect of combat exploration, ice/gas harvesting as something existing outside of ore mining, lancers as you said, the curious npcs that can screw you over and make it so you will forever be shot in any kspace, riveting gameplay for sure.
Factional warfare, the possibility of being an industrialist and having your own planets, how to properly do market without being scammed by other players into selling your stuff in a newbie system to buy orders that lowball you out of items, especially during events.
yes, the beautiful exploration and having basically nothing said to you in the game, so you go and quit. I know you would do it 100 times over, but an average player is not you. I said it before, I will say it again - making some more infomative intro t oa game is good because you let your community grow. A lot of players will finish CA and quit out of boredom or just lack of any guidance, so player retention should be a focus heavier than just the intro to the game taht was redone. But nooooo, you think itâs becoming an arcade, even though nothing else changes other than newbies having more fun to do and more activities being presented to them, or HINTED so they can go and DISCOVER and EXPLORE them. I used to teach people about explo and WH explo in a newbie corp. It was taking a long preparation and it was only the doâs and donâts so they can survive and then go discover the rest.
yeah, so people gave feedback and it was added back. I still donât like the new skilling interface, but I donât sit and yell âbring old back, donât add anything to the gameâ - if anything, you need to go and point out the errors and go help them make stuff better for both parties. As for content, I think they should do 2 releases a year, the 4 quadrant thing is ambitious as hell, but yes, I see it is rushed a lot and should take more testing.
There should be a thing that catches them up on the lore of those fights and just letting them know that they will just immediately get shot if they do nothing about trigs, because if I were to start the game and just get screwed over by them, it would just be a bad experience. And as much as I would love to have that whole thing finished, because I think that more content should have been added around trigs vs edencom, you are just throwing salt all around, just because you donât see the use in ganking ships in edencom systems, cause they have armor bonuses
So what? Am I not allowed to voice my displeasure of what they want?
You watched âThe Gentlemenâ movie? I donât call them degenerates out of my racial or national preferences. I view them as such out of mere personal perspective - these charactersâ ever-presense on the forum background and in the launcher compiled with their out-of-eve-universe looks (be it british, mongolian or klingon) have been hurting my eyes long enough for me to grow to hate them personally. That is why I use deragotory term personally in their address.
Associating them with k-pop is different matter, separate from them being degenerates. If you knew anything youâd know that k-pop stars are not actually dressed in ethnic korean costumes, but rather in something popular, usually heavily influenced by western culture. British included. And yes, I am well aware that Dr. Who is a british show, thank you very much, captain Obvious.
âKoreansâ meme picture is only there to illustrate the irony towards korean gamedev school, which has its right to be, but until recently wasnât influencing EVE all that much. And doesnât involve any negative feelings against korean people or culture.
You, however, have just tried to falsely accuse my of racism because as any consiously-ignorant forum demahogue (Iâve already noticed that you are, gleefully enjoying this shitstorm for itself and trying to make it personal with people), you are trying to tie together what is just written closely but is separate by sense. And I donât take what comes from people of your kind seriously.
Yes. Let the hate flow and cause you to forget what paragraphs are. It is delicious
Most donât and then cry to daddy CCP to nerf things People on this very forum has said they shouldnât have to read anything and info is hard to find about a game thats been out for almost 20 years.
It isnât CCP bruv. Itâs us
You certainly can. And you can also certainly be critized for crying moar
Welcome to freedom
Sure it is bruv. Sure it is. Itâs just a joke right? One rooted in racism.
And yet you then associated their look and that hate with a race of people. Lets face it bruv, you made a racist joke and got called out on it and now are trying to squirm your way out of it.
Oh? Whose people?
It ainât false. You made a racist joke.
Oof. The racism again What era do you think South Korea is in right now? The 1400s? Its funny how you are so centered in the Western mindset that you think we are influencing them and not the other way around. LOL guess you donât know which country is pushing dark/tech wear more huh?
LOL at the ethnic clothing. Could you be any more obviously racist? Are Koreans supposed to always go around in traditional garb in 2022? ROFL. Never mind the fact that no one in modern Korea wears that outside of special religious or cultural events.
Nah bro. Youâre racist and you put it on display. And imagine, all it took was a scarf to get you to display the absolute cancer of a person you are
What A pile of garbage they said it took a year to put this together more like two weeks what a disgrace. you had yo use mines as components because in a year you couldnât come with anything original and you couldnât even make them different colors WTF what a waste you people are
Iâve said all I wanted to you. Your stubborn pressure on your own logical falacies speaks for itself.
Demahogues and forum trolls. The people whose presense is counter-productive for communication between developers and people voicing their criticism. As all they want is to enjoy useless verbal shenanigans. Begone now. Bzzzz.
Told ya, not taking you seriously. Iâve explained all I needed to, and Iâm not gonna get focused on the points you handpick. Weâre not in discussion, pal. Bzzz
Finding the High Sec Hacking sites and opening the cans is rather easy. However getting all the materials to build the first key isnât easy. The Agency Hacking Tasks are easily completed with the first site even though all the materials to build the first key havenât been obtained. The Agency then instructs players to use the Market to buy and sell some of the items from the Hacking sites. However due to needing large quantities of various materials to build that key, players have to speed a lot of ISK to buy everything thatâs needed to build it.
New players donât have a lot of ISK to do that and canât progress any further in the event until the Market tasks are completed. The amount of materials needed to manufacture the event keys should be vastly reduced.
I only did one Hacking site which completed the Agency Hacking Tasks which had 7 cans = 1 Large, 2 Medium and 4 Small. Out of those cans I got 2x Curious Warp Matrix Filament BPCâs, 15x Strange Matter Component Y-73 (1 of 5 different Material types needed to build Filament), 51x Peculiar Data Collection (NPC buy orders @10,000 ISK), an assortment of T1 Salvage Materials and Metal Scraps.
I bought all the other materials to build the filament and am now going to use it and continue with the event. While the Hacking site graphics do look great, the code for it probably needs to be optimized because it was very laggy, I had to zoom way out just to complete the mini hacking game.
So far in my opinion this is not a New Player friendly event.
Fair enough itâs just you were complaining new players wouldnât be able to progress is all . Also give it a day or two and Iâm sure most of the materials will be cheap as anything as more flood the market.
I wasnât complaining, it was my opinion due to experience. In order to progress on the Agency tasks and gain points, the Hacking sites donât give all the mats required to make the Filament. Plus the amount of materials required is too muchâŚ
