That’s why I fly cheapass ships with cheapass modules. I don’t care if I get hunted down in a POS Ship, their loot would be crap and I can make it up in a few days. Meanwhile, they can’t be hunting me 24/7 so I’m still making a profit when their backs are turned.

I would argue that there are forms of PVP in EVE that are perfectly sustainable. Point in case, Faction Wars. This is because 80% of all things there are done by frigates, 10% by destroyers and the remaining 10% by other things™.
I have also made it my mission to educate the newbros I encounter, and to prove to them that one can get dank killmails with just T1 hulls, T2/meta modules and T1 rigs. On average the frigates I undock cost somewhere between 5 and 10 million. By EVE standards that is cheap.
The LP one gets from kills and the complexes (which I prefer to view as a romantic PVP dinner table set for two) is more than sufficient to cover the losses. It’d probably be worth more if CCP didn’t allow those terrible bots to run the weird PVE missions that pay out the same LP, though.

Nah, if that were the case they wouldn’t let you send them to your own email address. Or, maybe they like entrapment and make it easy to get your self in trouble. I’m kidding, I asked about this once in Rookie help and one of the ISD people said it was not a problem.
