Does mining need a minigame?

A, Minigame would be to organize your 5 mining drones to each have their own asteroid to mine.

B. Mining could be seen as making use of your valuable gametime.

The solution, create your own understanding on what works for you to take your mind off of the actual wait for ore to reach your cargo hold, like reading the forum.

make things up and roleplay

Roleplay is about making things up!

It can be what ever they wish it to be like example, some pilots choose to extort pilots into their roleplay and others just try to follow their new eden space fantasy.

So, you’re not infuriating other peoples missions and ninja salvaging and ninja looting their space trash right out from under their noses?

This right there. And they prefer it this way so any idea for any kind of minigame will get instantly shut down. Don’t even bother. Do something else, mining is noob trap anyway.

(And you also need to keep in mind that CCP doesn’t care. There was no player idea that was inherited by them, the Player Features & Ideas only purpose is for players to vent their ideas not to read them.)

My argument was never that Bots couldnt solve capchas nor become better at solving capcha with enough time.

If anyone wants to look at a game where mining is super minigameish, that person best tries out elite dangerous.

And it’s fun for the first 2 minutes. After that, it’s super tedious and totally not worth it.

Even for void opals.

Yup, that sums it up.

If CCP were ever to add a mining minigame, I could see it being a cross between the Trauma Surgeon Nintendo DS games, and Project Discovery.

Say the Mini Game is having to “manually” operate the mining lasers to excise a specific rock chunk like having to draw a circle in the Project Discovery specimen interface.

It would be hard to time the “bonus output” with how much can be done in a single cycle, because that would inversely punish someone with minimized cycle time. Perhaps it could be an all or nothing on a handful of nodes.

Although thinking about it, chances are you’d sooner see someone make a Bejeweled clone using various mineral types as blocks. Megacyte could even explode surrounding blocks.

That might actually be more in line with the traditional roles and values of miners. AFK in a belt, or alt-tabbed into something else.

Why not simply flag AFK ships with something like

tag in an overview for interested parties to organise. Or better yet give those AFKs away on D-Scan and probes?

maybe they do what they do for a reason but can see what happen and react ?

Sure, you can trick it and do some automatic keystroke and mouse click/move spoofing, …and risk a ban.

yes its possible but this is a shitty system ! nobody can say youre afk ! the client can only see if you didnt do an action within a specific time …

still makes no sense … the whole client would spammed with these afk notices becasue so many player are sitting on station maybe afk only watch a YT video on second screen how they could do XYZ

it is not for the game client to decide if the pilot is AFKing while undocked - it is game server’s job
