Don't do Hacking for Crimson Harvest

Counterpoint: the track rewards are remarkably underwhelming other than the 1000pt BP (I guess?), so the fact they drop in large chunks doesn’t really bother me.

I don’t think it’s more grindy than last year, but the rewards and trade-ins are simply worse. Thus for anyone whose priority is making isk, this simply isn’t very appealing.

Is there a list of trade-in items anywhere? Would be handy to have before making x jumps to each trader…

Thank-you so much for this!!

That may be true for you but other players, myself included, like to use those boosters received in the little points reward spots to help complete the event tasks…

Having seen so many events in the past this was my conclusion for most events in the past. They watered them down, made them more grindy and gave less and less rewards each event. In past events Ive been able to farm multiple months of omega in PLEX, the next event was way worse and the cycle has continued to day.

But to new players its a lot and significant and meaningful and less so for older players. So its a trade off as to who CCP/FC wants to run them and how much reward they are to have for what class/skill level of player.

So will it make a new payer rich? Yes. But will it make an older, established player richer? No. There are ways to game it for older players, like the PVP related mechanics to farm other players, but the actual rewards I dont believe are designed, intentionally, to be super lucrative for those already established.

That’s probably fair, particularly given the last thing the game can handle right now is more isk faucets.

I think the danger for Fenris is these events usually boost engagement. If the rewards aren’t there, the players won’t bother.

Again… “which” players? Which ones need the most engagement?

The up and coming new players who will see it as fun AND profitable? Or Midline/middle class players who might see it as more meh or cool depending on what they fancy game play wise? Or established rich players who will do it for some of the rewards that are unique to acquire but the rest is just ‘lame’ and not worth the time?

Think of where you are in the game and what advancement, the subjective ideals of what “good” isk means to you, and also where others might be. It will change how you see why CCP/FC can do what they do and why the rewards and risk are at the level they are and who they are catering to with each event.

Just some food for thought if you wish.

I appreciate the encouragement to think and you raise the critical point of who is this event for.

Given the complete nothingness offered by CoW, I was hoping festival season might re-engage me with the game. It hasn’t. Thus these events are not for me. And I honestly have no idea to whom Fenris is catering and strongly suspect they don’t either.

so i have full implants for explorer, today i watched a sig spawn, i scanned it down got to it to find a guy was hacking the 3rd can.

he claimed it was the event booster that allowed him to scan it down and hack the cans as quickly as he did…i call BS.

Maybe one can done but hacking the 3rd can say suspicious.

Sounds like poor technique on your end, or no hyperspatial rigs, or no Scan Acquisition Array II (everyone skips this one for some reason and it’s the best one by far), or combination of the 3.

Maybe this video from Nth dimensional can help with your technique.

So out of interest, what is your scan probe strength, because my pacifier with a full set of virtues can probe these down pretty quickly, its also fast enough with a blacklace and a zeug to hack cans pretty fast

There are few people who can keep up with that sort of setup

Besides skills, implants, boosters, rigs and modules, the ship scan bonus also plays an important part as well…

For example the Astero and Stratios both have 37.5% bonus to Core and Combat Scanner Probe strength and 10+ bonus to Relic and Data Analyzer virus strength…

I use a Covert Ops Cheetah which only has 10% bonus to Core and Combat Scanner Probe strength and 10+ bonus to Relic and Data Analyzer virus strength…

So yeah, due to just the base bonus stats, lately I’ve been seriously considering using the SoE exploration ships, especially since my bling fit ship and highly skilled implanted character can barely keep up with them…

As such I fully understand and sympathize with what you’re saying… Other than going full out and spending ton’s of ISK just to evenly compete with them, I suggest finding a small out of the way / off the beaten track low activity cluster of systems to explore, preferably with some deadend systems… Cosmic Signatures and Anomaly’s both have a tendency to pile up in deadend systems..

Anyway, good luck to you…

Funny. I earned more than that in 20 minutes. 178mil to be precise.

The real issue is the same one that plagues this event every year. 90% of the sites are Tetrimon. But they pretend like “it doesn’t matter” which one you choose. There is a difference if you can easily do one tract with multiple characters and not the other. While I usually pick Blood Raiders for this very reason, those skins look terrible on Trig ships. The Tetrimon skins are at least okay. But I don’t do them for the event anyway. I do them as I see them for the isk. And the Tetrimon sites also tend to have better loot than the Blood Raider sites.

But if you want to do the even tract best pick Blood Raiders.

I have the reverse issue, 90% of the sites are crimson and i sided with the blood raiders :stuck_out_tongue:

Impossible! I don’t believe you.

I think they are trying to keep people who just want maybe the first skin (something like that) from being able to participate for a small amount and then go about their business. By doing it this way they are trying to force people to invest a larger amount of time to get anything out of it. The thing is, there nothing they are giving away worth that time. I could literally care less about anything on that reward track. I’ve already gotten the Ikitursa and Kikimora skins already (ones I can actually sell). I’ll probably stumble upon a Nergal before it’s over. What else is on that track beside the BPC at the end? And if the past is any indication, the rewards for the extension during the last week will be crap.
