'Drifter Crisis' Event: Increased Rewards and More Sites!

cuanto durara el evento drifters? o como maneja el tiempo?.

The previous Drifter/Siege of Zarzakh event was approximately 2 weeks long. I don’t believe CCP has announced a duration for the current event.

What happens if drifters win?

All HighSec becomes Pochven.

Apparently the Drifters are upping the ante in their struggle to infiltrate Empire space. Looks like the Minmatar and Amarrians are catching the worst of it:

Has anybody seen anything about an ‘end result’ of these sites and the ‘influence’ changes? Or do they just apply to site generation in this particular event?

Do CCP want people to drop what they are doing and participate in Events or face consequences? Im not sure about this

CCP tries to provide some content that allows people to change up their routines and try out some different activities. There’s no need to “drop what you’re doing” usually, as the end results are generally scripted anyway. It’s just there to provide some more of EVE’s backstory and a bit of variety.

Some lore related to the current Crisis I missed posting earlier:

We have to keep things fresh for the bots…

At the end of the day its the same stuff. Im not sure it will keep someone playing. Btw. someone who is on the verge of burning out probably does not want to learn a new event. Gotta update the game in subtle ways for these people imo.

Sadly for those of us who were looking forward to our new Drifter overlords… looks like they’re getting their butts kicked. Heck, even the Winmatar are starting to get a move on.

Crisis sites are also being updated to keep them interesting and perhaps less farmable, so it looks like CCP isn’t planning on ending this one after 2 weeks.

Still waiting for my player-owned Drifter ships…

Drifter Crisis still has some time to go, looks like. And possibly higher rewards (officer drops and medals!). As well as some mysterious information…

I’ve only done 2 of these so far. Anyone else running more of them? How are they working out for you?

I see they’ve put Drifter news on the main launcher window, and are also sending emails about it. It seems like CCP is trying to encourage more players to get in on this Crisis. I’ve been following the lore and news (obviously, from this thread) but just wondering if anyone is hearing or seeing that there’s more to this one than the usual “do some sites and get some drops” type event?

Maybe something more like the Triglavian invasion with eventual effects on the game?

Here’s the text from the email they sent:

DRIFTER CRISIS

THE WAR RAGES ON

Battle-hardened capsuleer,

The Drifters have struck and New Eden has answered. Amid the chaos, the Arataka Research Consortium and other dedicated groups have uncovered fragments of a mystery lurking out there.

This is not a battle for the elite, but a war for capsuleers of many different experience levels, with skirmishes taking place in lowsec and highsec space. A well-piloted Tech I cruiser, a few allies at your side, plus a willingness to fight will go a long way toward turning the tide and earning you a wealth of ISK.

The battle rages on. Take a look at the story so far, and get ready to double your war efforts.

From the stats CCP’s published (ships killed, ISK destroyed) it looks like although it’s T1 frigs, destroyers and cruisers, there’s some fairly expensive (for T1) ships being blown up. Something like an average 46M ISK per ship, which is a fair bit for T1s.

From what I’ve seen the primary thing preventing more people from jumping in on this is the need to travel and form 3-10 ship fleets to tackle them. A couple people have told me the payouts are decent with the right size team, but they were both multiboxers so of course it’s better for them.

We welcome our new Drifter Overlords.

There’s a good thread over in the ‘Fiction’ section discussing some of the details about this Drifter Crisis. It looks like CCP might be waiting for players to put together some data and storyline from the various snips of information that can be obtained from the Drifter sites. Farther down in the thread you can see the images they’re assembling from retrieved data:

I hope they turn off Local again “The Blackout”

There’s some indication the situation will change next week (March 6), but I doubt it will be to restore Blackout conditions. You never know though… maybe the Drifters will start trolling players in local chat, looking for fights.
