Have set 2 drones groups
- a primary group that has 2 (medium) hammerheads and 3 hobgoblins
- a secondary group (spare drones) has 2 hammerheads and 1 hobgoblin
the ship that I’ll be using for this example,is the Algos (drone bandwidth is 35 with a drone bay of 60m3)
- primary group is tagged as favorite when launching
Disclaimer:
I have yet to complete the skill, but what I currently have is the bandwidth at 30/35 and max 3 drones. when launching drones, 2 hobgoblins from primary group, and 1 hobgoblin from secondary group. If the system wanted to launch 3 hobgoblins, why not from primary group only? Plus from the primary group, it could launch 1 hammerhead and 2 hobgoblins. While in space,I can launch 2 hammerheads and 1 hobgoblin (totals 25mb), thus have the required training for light and medium Gallente drones.
With max 3 drones and 30 bandwidth you’re never going to be able to launch your favourite group as your selection of 2 mediums and 3 lights requires you to be able to use 5 drones and 35 bandwidth.
So obviously there’s going to be some unintended behaviour there if your intention is to launch the primary ‘favourite’ group.
The question is, in what order does the game check max drones, bandwidth and your preferred order? I don’t know, and CCP probably doesn’t know either unless they dive into the code behind drone launch logic.
But regardless of the outcome, we know your primary group doesn’t fit.
Why not fix the issue on your side and select your primary group so it fits with your skills?
Max 3 drones, 30 bandwidth:
- You would do most damage with 3x medium drones, make that your primary group.
- For speed and tracking a set of 3x light drones would be a good secondary group.
- You have 15m3 left so you can bring 1 spare medium and 1 spare light drone or 3 lights in a third ‘backup’ folder.
Once you get better skills you can change the groups again.
