I am curious what you think “delay for cyno lighting and jump drives” would look like? People can already uncloak while in warp to go light the cyno, so I doubt that would matter too much. I think if you ask the broader spectrum of CSM candidates, you probably won’t find many who think that cynos shouldn’t be able to be lit for arbitraty times.
Im sorry I didn’t want to hijack ur CSM thread. OFC ill ask the others too, even willing to remove my posts from here as this thread is meant to be a introduction and no discussion i guess
The issue is that minor instances have no counter for unlimited (size wise) and undelayed (instant) force projection. With the big cyno fleets having a scout in every system, no risk in cynoing (because reinforcement arrive immediately), they can take out the fun of whole low sec pockets by just being there afk.
A delay between cyno module activation (like MJD works) and actually cyno up, or for jumpdrives, or a time needed per light-year would give you the opportunity to shoot at the cyno, boosh it, or counter. Would be only one possible solution, the observatory thing you mentioned could well be another. But we need one.
I too don’t want to hijack your CSM topic with an in-depth discussion about personal opinions. In the linked topic you will find a reply that summarizes some of my arguments. The main being: I am active in the game for like 20 years and have witnessed first-hand how hotdropping destroyed LowSec. To the point that it became a barren wasteland, except for the few FW zones (where cynos aren’t working well against small gangs inside of plexes, what a coincidence…) and large groups who are, surprise surprise, hotdroppers themselves.
It has cost Lowsec (and probably the game) hundeds, if not thousands of players that either left or quit because they were sick and tired being dropped all day long by absolute overpowered blingfleets that you can’t even remotely hope to fight as a smaller and independent entity.
Dujek for CSM 20 :3
I absolutely welcome discussion here in this thread - that is the main purpose after all.
I had also talked to someone who wanted a “cloak reactivation delay”-style mechanics for cynos, where you can’t light until you are out of cloak for X seconds. I am also somewhat against this.
I also suspect that if cynos had to spool up, it would just mean that we swap to the more expensive and somewhat less effective (due to speed) t3cs for hunting, which isn’t really going to make it that much harder to actually secure the kill.
Dealing with afk cloaky campers would at least mean that if someone new enters your system, you know it is time to get safe.
Lastly, a cyno delay makes it very very hard to tackle supers and titans jumping to tether, through a cyno, since there is already only just a 30 second window there before they get safe.
I work closely with Youngpuke2 on matters of lowsec, which is the space I am the least familiar with. That being said - it is very useful feedback to get! Even if I can’t earn your vote (vote yp2), I can still listen to your arguments and bring them forward.
The feedback I have gotten from friends in lowsec (mainly FW groups) is that the good parts are pretty good, and their main pain points are LP-QOL issues (which is mainly a FW thing), awoxing (again, a FW thing), and having projection shoved in their face by nearby large null entities. Projection certainly encompasses hot dropping in general, but it is also more universally popular, given that it is available to everyone, regardless of location, and not tied to wormholes, thera/turnur/zz or sov null.
I will go read up and educate myself in the linked thread above, and perhaps we can finish this discussion to our satisfaction after that!
Thanks, Dujek! 7o
Hey all,
Dujek is a phenomenal CSM with checks notes perfect attendance??
He has the Rots Mijnwerker seal of approval and my endorsement as someone you should put on your ballot. He helps connect various groups and believes in discourse.
Kinda cant beat that.
I like me some Dujek!
Whenever I reached out to Dujek he has replied fast each time and made me feel heard. It was clear to me that he understood what I brought up, even though we are active in completely different parts of the game. He makes for a good addition to the CSM and I believe him when he says he is there for everyone that plays this game.
Dujek is my homeboy that worked alongside myself and Seddow with some of the Pochven overhaul changes, The man is well spoken and infinitely patient, would highly reccomend
Last year, being a CSM noob, (and from an area of space that notoriously rejects all things null bloc) I was skeptical when Dujek approached me to talk about all things wormhole.
I was beyond pleasantly surprised to learn about his history in the space and continued presence today. Dujek has proven time and time again that his interests are to help represent those in lesser represented areas of space and across all skill levels. He has even taken time out of his weekends to attend WH UN meetings and further his understanding of the issues in wormhole space all while being an advocate.
Not only is he a great rep, but he’s also a great study when learning card games on the fly in a foreign country . If you want a rep who will take the time to learn and truly understand your concerns when taking them to CCP, Dujek is your guy.
Dujek is an excellent CSM candidate with years of experience in EVE. He is involved in everything from nullsec leadership, AT teams, and has done it all in EVE.
Your vote for Dujek would be an excellent use. I wholeheartedly endorse Dujek!
