Hello, I’m Dujek Oneye. I am running for CSM again as an incumbent. I have an extensive PVP history in all areas of space and I am a part of the NPSI blops and tournament communities. The CSM19 has been exceptionally effective, and I interact with the community, CSM and devs daily. I am running for re-election to CSM20 because I expect to be even more effective after this first year, and because I enjoy the work. My goal is to do what’s best for the health of the whole game.
My qualities as a member of the CSM:
-
Perfect attendance at all CSM meetings
-
I spend hours on most days answering direct messages from players
-
I talk to and advocate for actual real new players
-
Proven track record of representing players from all over EVE
-
Reasonably active in several community Discord servers for wormholes, Pochven, lowsec, faction warfare and highsec sigs, in addition to my own alliance
-
I work together well in a group and also help other people to work well in the group, too
I speak to a wide variety of EVE players from across New Eden, and pass on their concerns to CCP. For topics that are more complex or that come from outside of nullsec, I work together with players on the best way to present their issue to CCP. I also spend a lot of time working with the non-nullsec CSM helping their communities to be heard - Mick Fightmaster and the Wormhole UN, Drake Iddon with Pochven, and YoungPuke2 with lowsec (they are also all great candidates to vote for).
Many of my contributions have been well-received by the EVE community. Here are some highlights:
-
Several issues I presented to CCP got fixed, some of them major - like following up on long standing bugs
-
Several quality-of-life improvements I asked for (as suggested by people who reached out) were implemented - for example, configuring skyhooks from the browser, showing the correct number of days in notifications when changing citadel reinforcement times, being able to return to the market by clicking on completed orders, and more
-
Working on ship re-balance and encouraging more frequent balance updates - bringing forth a list of ships that are too good or underused and giving feedback on proposed changes. I still want to get more nerf to the Cenotaph (without ruining it for everyone).
-
Working on the long-term vision for what Freelance Jobs should be, demonstrating how corps use the existing tools, asking for the functionality to use Freelance Jobs to increase new player engagement
-
Working to build agreement in the CSM about how to handle force projection, and working with the entire CSM to get changes made to ansiblexes (even if it could still need more tuning)
-
Encouraging more communication and dev blogs from CCP
-
Advocating for character gender changes
CSM Work
As a CSM member I also provide regular feedback to CCP on what changes are actually working well and how players are using new features. The best feedback you can give to a game developer is describing your experience when you play their game. This is also an important part of having a good working relationship and helps when I want to talk about ongoing issues such as:
-
The new player experience and player retention
-
Continuing to address concerns about force projection
-
Addressing the mineral price index and cost of building various ships
-
The capital escalation path and making big and/or expensive fights happen
-
Revitalizing wormholes without incentivizing the blue worm-donut-hole, and having people want to live there and fight there
-
The ongoing work needed for Freelance Jobs
-
Weapon tiericide
Anyone is welcome to reach out to me directly. You can contact me on Discord (mikkjel), on Reddit (u/mikkjel), on the forums, or in-game (Dujek Oneye). I love talking to players and will answer all messages.
My EVE story
I lived in Iceland during the launch of EVE, but I first started playing in 2014 after reading cool headlines about huge battles. I joined Brave Newbies Inc., and since then I have lived in most areas of the game.
I started out mainly in wormholes, where I was the head FC and a director in a C5 wormhole corp. During that time I worked extensively on projects aimed at introducing new players to wormhole space, and met my SO of 10 years. Later I followed my friends to Pandemic Legion when they lived in lowsec to fight in capital battles, and bought my first super. I made lasting friendships in all of these groups and still talk to many of them.
I came back to Brave with my SO about 6 years ago and adjusted to nullsec life. I found out that I enjoy the huge fights of nullsec warfare, which are one of the unique aspects of EVE. I am usually the Brave AT team captain and also do commentary and analysis for EVE tournaments. My PvP alt Suzann Ivanova is the #2 top killer of all time in Brave Collective and has had the most expensive player-owned killmail in the game twice in the last year. In addition to the big nullsec blob fights and skirmishing in standing fleet, I am highly active in NPSI whaling fleets. My favorite killmail from the past year was after spending 3 weeks hunting a Python.
In my capacity as Brave leadership, I am not an alliance decision-maker. My main responsibility is as the head of SRP, and otherwise I’m a behind-the-scenes fixer who is trusted to get things done when they need to be. I am not told to present any alliance-specific agenda as a CSM member.
Last year I was elected to the CSM19, and got a lot more of an in depth understanding of how things work behind the scenes. I collaborated with many of the different CSM members and devs in various configurations. I forwarded dozens of player suggestions, feedback, concerns, bug report signal amplifying, and more. I pitched some of my own ideas (especially for the NPE improvements I wish we had). I will continue with that, but this year I am going to make a big push for Weapon Tiericide, so we might find a place for that in an upcoming expansion and add another way to balance combat ships.
