Dynamic PvP/PvE Mode - A Player-Driven Solution!

You don’t know how to read, do you.
Where is it I wrote I didn’t want PvP?
Switching from one thing to another doesn’t mean one of those things isn’t liked… nuances are lost on you, aren’t they.

It doesn’t matter what you like or don’t like. A game that is designed for PvP does not need an opt-out option for the game’s most important content.

You definitely don’t know how to read.

This is one of the best ideas I ever red. I rarly play EO. I spent many month in null but PvP everywhere is not my thing. A PvP/PvE option would be great.

I think he did not only read, but also understood the consequences of your “idea”. Which you obviously don’t. I mean, you haven’t even explained what problem you are trying to solve here? Why would your idea make EVE a better game? People have explained the major problems multiple times: Market, Risk/Reward balance and PvP abuse potential.

So, if you want people to take you seriously and actually have a debate, please bring arguments why your idea is needed or would improve anything? Because as far as I can see, anyone can “switch” from PvP to PvE mode all the time if he wants to: Jump into a HS-Clone, Board a PvE ship and run some missions, anos, sites, abyssals. Easy peasy. Game already offers that. And if you aren’t really stupid doing it, nobody will disrupt your little moneygrinding with PvP, ever. So please: What good has your idea to add to the game?

  1. Expressed my concerns.
  2. You can’t (made this clear).
  3. Drop the idea (also mentioned).
  4. Already engaged in PvE, so not really applicable.

So you want risk-free activities and then be able to switch when you feel like pvp - that’s how I understand it.

Doing isk without risk - and that’s exactly what Eve should still not offer.

There is no sensible reason why PvP should be switched off.

And as mentioned above, a lot of people would really exploit it badly.

Just bury the thought - Eve has always been PvP everywhere - and that’s what makes the game great.

Hi, @Akolja-Oenris_Frael It isn’t a bad idea, it’s just that it isn’t an idea well suited for EVE Online. In EVE the PvP is the driving force for everything, market, industry, exploration… even PvE depends on the PvP.
If you allow players to opt out of PvP then you break the game.
Imagine Monopoly. Take the money out of Monopoly and you break the game. The money in Monopoly is the reason to play and determines the winner.
Also, as others have pointed out, Elite Dangerous already has the PvP/PvE switch option so it would be redundant and not very smart to adopt it for EvE Online.

Happy New Year, Akolja-Oenris

I understand your change of heart. I realize now that it was a bad idea for EVE.

I guess you’re right.
Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea after all.

Yea but most of the members went ballistic at the mere suggestion and maybe it isn’t such a good idea for EVE Online.
The game will just have to make do without players like us. I will still play it but not so seriously. I really like No Man’s Sky right now.

Nothing of value was lost

A.hole to the end I see.

Your kind is the reason why this world sucks.

Unfortunately there are several kinds of people that make this world suck, not just his kind.

And trolling again here, claiming it causes me some sort of pain.

You know, you could just ask me if it’s causing me pain.

Bit of an over reaction

You’ve had no problem lashing out at me
with emotion barbs:

But the moment someone does it to you, they’re suddenly an asshole?

Take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself these questions before posting…

“Am I assuming something about the emotional state and/or the character that I’m debating with that may not be true? What is my motivation for posting this? To try and upset the other person by making quips about them?”

If you can’t take it, don’t dish it out.

Nobody’s here to coddle your ego dude. You’re going to propose ideas, sometimes those ideas are going to be smooth brained, and sometimes you’ll get called out.

That’s ok. That’s just how life is. You adapt and grow and come up with better ideas. It’s just all part of the growth process.

Chin up, you’ll do better next time slugger!

This is what we teach toddlers in game. Apparently, no new players want to give up their pacifiers.

Fine. Give them a free zone, just make sure their ore is worthless to the pvp side.

This is the problem though, you’ll create two separate silo’d player bases.

This is what I mean about “two tier player base” and this is precisely why it is not comparable to omega/alpha, as these players can interact.

By the time you got done implementing the changes set out in this proposal, it’s going to be a completely different game, it won’t even be EvE anymore.

The better proposal would have been to ask for a single player version of the game, as a separate entity entirely. Maybe with co-op multiplayer, but again, this is a whole new game’s worth of logic to write. Yes there will be copy & pastables, and the assets can all be reused, but underneath there’s a big rewrite lurking, and given the fact that CCP have not touched certain files in more than a decade, and the devs who wrote all those legacy chunks will be long gone, I can’t see how this works, especially given that there’s no financial carrot for doing any of this.

We have that. But forget what its called sense I don’t play it.

Wasn’t that the test server, whatever it was called?

I thought CCP closed that.
