Easy Mode & Hard Mode

Stupidest idea ever. “Please let me farm PLEX in safety before transfering it to the hard server to trade it for dank ISK”.

No.

Even if you can’t take anything with you either way, still stupid idea.

Welcome to the Test Server.

So you’d rather lose a player than dial it down a bit.

A strange viewpoint.

Yeah, I did say ‘with restrictions’.

Like no ships, just PLEX, and probably with a cap too.

It’s not strange at all. You want the game to adapt to you instead of you adapting to the game, making you a special Snowflake -case. Had you come here asking for tips on how to improve your gameplay or adapt to it despite your shortcomings, you would have gotten a much more positive answers.

I don’t actually think CCP cares this much about revenue. They simply care for good game making and that’s that. If it was all about making money then they would have ditched the game making already and turned HQ into a casino or a brothel.

So economy is an issue here. Being able to make Isk with limited risks can be game breaking. (Coming from a guy that livestreamed his titan ratting last night) high sec needs change but needs risk otherwise there is no need to move elsewhere. I personally moved to null because of mechanics of high sec that were burning me out. 1 year later I’ve made more than 150 billion Isk and have a way more relaxed gameplay than before

Even just the PLEX is too much. No transfers aside from skills is the only way to prevent farming, and that would just be the test server.

As before, the idea is just plain bad. The test server does everything your idea does, aside from provide risk free ISK farming for use on the hard server.

Before Incarna, I would have agreed. After Incarna? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah, no. Especially the changes of the last 3 years are literally only monetization. Driving up that revenue, milking the shrinking playerbase for as much as possible.

Has it ever occurred to you that we play EVE exactly because it is the way it is? Rhetorical question. I know it hasn’t.
So now you know. Dial it down to accommodate those of lesser intellect and you lose those of higher intellect.
CCP did exactly that and see where it got them. A bleeding userbase, a dying game. Because EVE wasn’t designed for illiterates, it was designed for intellectuals. That’s why all their “remove needless complexity” mostly resulted in players leaving.

Wasn’t it long overdue for EVE to have a much better free-to-play model than the old trial periods? It always used to be little more than a monthly subscription based game. And while in the past this was normal, and we used to have book clubs and paper magazine subscriptions back in the 80’s, too, will millenials most likely say that it’s this monthly subscription model that makes CCP look like money grabbers. So I’d say they’re only going with the times.

Look at their recent and current marketing.
Skill trading.
SKINs.
Read the last CSM minutes (the part where “we no longer have a monetization team, now every team is made aware about monetization”).

The millenials that can’t see the difference between “I can play for free, but have to spend 2352935$ in cash shop to get anywhere” and “I have to pay the monthly subscription, but get everything else included” aren’t exactly the type of person with a future in EVE. See it as a low-effort intelligence check. Not to mention that it keeps the kids locked out, which is also a good thing.

To be fair, skill trading is what the players invented when they sold accounts and characters. It’s not something CCP wanted, but CCP fought it and then only slowly let it in. It still was the players who kept trading chars like crazy on the bazaar, which I thought was just paving the road to in-game skill trading. How long would you have wanted for CCP to fight against what players always wanted?

And players did rally against Captain’s Quarter, that’s true, but ship skins was also something players wanted for a long time. Maybe not for ISKs, Aurum or PLEX, but for free of course, but to be honest with you does the cost add to the value of a nice skin and it’s not something where you end up having all skins for all ships and its no longer special. Heck, I thought I’d never buy one, and yet I did. I bought one single skin, because it keeps putting a smile into my face (Kronos police skin is just hilarious :oncoming_police_car:).

Is it though?

The full time pvp nature of eve is what sets it apart. It wouldn’t be eve without it.

Dialing it down a bit… Test server. No pvp. No economy. Learn to play the game at your own pace with ships you have. Do whatever you want.

Apparently not a solution.

The test Server is used for Guinea-pigging stuff.

Some disabled people can’t manage change too well.

We’re talking about a 3rd server.

I was actually think a 400 plex cap. Just enough to get a Nightmare & some toys for it ( etc ).

400 plex is about £1.2b after all.

You could make it a bit more generous sure, but…

.

Stamp on Disabled people and you will lose people who can sit there and fly A LOT if given the right conditions. And we like it, we like flying. And we find stuff you can then sell.

Or we can leave because you stamped on us, and then you can complain about a lack of content.

That’s your EVE grand-pa. Some of us see more in this game, and it’s story/'verse, than just kicking in a ‘cripple’.

And this is why you have to separate off the Newbs from the Older Players.

Separating people makes them quit sooner.

The people that stay are the ones who interact and shoot eachother.

You seem to think you know a lot about what’s killing the game. But all the evidence suggests you have the wrong idea about eve.

And yet, here we are, with an ill/infirm person asking for special access, and he/she is willing to pay, and you stamp all over them.

As 60k players drops to 30k players.

Get with the times grand-pa. Maybe you should take a break from EVE. Make space for those of us who would actually like to fly. No? Didn’t think so.

A player that won’t be here for very long unless they learn how to play in the sandbox like the rest of us.

I thought you were calling me disabled

Either way, I’m well aware what’s being discussed. A low risk farming server where someone can use alts to farm ■■■■ loads of ISK and transfer it back to the main server. If you only allow PLEX, then that will be the medium of transfer. If you limit the amount, people will use alts to bypass your limits and farm the server anyway because that is it’s only useful function.

If you’re talking about a 3rd server where nothing can be transfered but is “easier” to make ISK in, inflation will mean everything costs relatively the same amount. If you solve that issue by making everything 1isk you end up with the test server.

I rest my case. The idea is poor in substance and long derelict.

In that case why would we pack all you useful F1 mashers off to your own server? How would we make use of the things you find over there?
