Yeah. That’s the down-side of the Talos. Nice DPS, but a little squishy for a BC.
Ganking is not PvP. Ganking is what you do when you don’t want to fight. No shame in it though. I love gankers but PvP must involve that you got into a “fight”.
Personally, if i want to know how good anyone is, I look at the solo kills you have.
Fleet PvP is also about numbers and tactics which is a fantastic form of PvP. The smaller the fleets (and closer to equal chances to win or being outnumbered yourself) that fight each other, the better the fight all the way down to 1v1.
Elite PvPers can fight alone against multiple people and this is the highest form of PvP.
Using combat alts to kill a solo ship is basically ganking with risk of a trap.
Personally I use scouts that dont even decloak but simply watch for traps with one single ship to take on groups up to five. The scouts are a necessary evil imo.
If your kill ratio is above 95%, you are too careful. If its below 90%, you need to get better friends and stop being so cheap.
Btw, the only reason people even complain so much about ganking is because its the only form of combat left in many spaces that has not already been eliminated with game mechanics by CCP.
By that standard, alpha shotting someone is not PvP. A frigate flying under the turrets of a battleship so it can’t fight back is not PvP. Destroying a frigate from 150km with long range ammo is not PvP. I mean, in none of those situations is there actually a ‘fight’.
I would say ganking is PvP, but it’s not a fight.
It’s more of an arrest.
I dont understand the distinction here.
Lets say i have a fleet of 1000 players, and we are up against a fleet of 17 players. To you, this is a fantastic form of PVP, even though the 17 players are likely to be alpha’ed off the grid in one shot. The 17 may be able to get a shot or two off, maybe deal 100 damage to the opponents shields each before dying.
Yet a gank of 2-3 players against 1, and this isnt pvp?
The closer the equality of the fight, the better the fight. For fleets, I think i mentioned that and edited in your point to be more clear. After a certain point, its just a gank. Yeah, im still learning how to say it properly. If your heart is pumping, its a good fight I guess.
My last good fight by myself was with my active Ikitursa against a bubbler, two Tengus, a rail proteus, and Praxis. I swear to baby jesus if the Tengus were heavy and not HAM after a buff, i had a real chance if could have not been greedy with the Prax in hull and kept out of ham range… They were chit-fit imo and I was 6bil clone/drugged with 2b Iki. (I got the clone out) Some will say that I used ISK to have a chance but to that I say… we all have equal access to make ISK and I dont swipe Visa. Play to win, not pay to win.
So if im alone in a tornado and alpha suicide ganking Deep-space transports in hisec, its 1v1 so its a good PVP fight, right?
I see it the opposite. The more unbalanced the fight, the better.
I didn’t come to EvE for fair coinflips.
Well in fleets it comes down to the FC. Ive been an FC and know my limits. Ive had the honor of flying for much better FCs who know how to fit-swap or change ships while outnumbered and still win. Ive been with FCs who take on 200 with 60 of us and will still win. (200 vs 200 would be too easy because we fly bling and have much more experience) Gotta know who the better man is and follow orders you know.
You’re the best at what you do Aiko, Keep up the good work.
Solonius Rex, A solo tornado with alpha isnt looking for a fight, they are looking for a gank payday. No shame in it. But the frig should know how to spiral in and grab your ass with the one shot you are going to have. I guess I shouldnt rule out ganking as PvP but I think one style is looking to fight and the other is looking to simply dominate and get paid.
Thank you. I have been saying this for yrs. I was lucky and had a good teacher. Hard to find these days…
And this brings us back around to player retention. Who is left in the game to teach something other than mining? An excellent way to die with hardly any profit as a new player.
Hi, @Afrodites
I think it’s true that a kill is a kill, the end result shows that it is. The method shouldn’t matter. The end should justify the means, more so in a video game.
Neither. I consider solo PvPers to be the elites in this game for reasons that should be obvious.
I like you!
Is it the hairdo or the color?
An actual female? I don’t judge. 50/50 chance of it being a redhead. (god, I hope not!)
No, I just like your attitude.
While brunettes (pun at Geo for being spelling police?) are mysterious, redheads are just plain out dangerous.
Back on topic, just listen to the voice of my wife when she has her scout in position and says “Kil him”.
Hmm. a succubus has a voice in her head , a soul she extacted that keep saying “Kill him”, so she does.
I preferred a scout. Old habits die hard. Safety in numbers and all that bs. Lol
I suggest you don’t let your wife touch you , otherwise within a few seconds, she will rip your soul out of your body, you will then be in her head with all the other souls she extracted.
