What is the point of asking a question that is so far detached from reality that the answer tells us nothing of value?
First of all: i love how you dont even see krabs as people.
Because they aren’t people. They’re NPCs, and not even very interesting ones.
Second: even pvp eventually died out during blackout, but it kinda ruins your narrative, so i guess we will just ignore that.
Only because CCP didn’t give it enough time. They panicked when they saw RMT botter subscription income dropping and reversed the change. There wasn’t enough time for accumulated supplies of ships/minerals/etc to be depleted and for nullsec groups to be forced to come out of their stations. And the up-front statement that it was only going to be a temporary experiment encouraged this attitude of avoiding loss and waiting for the interruption to end. Make it a permanent thing and people would have to figure out a way to play without local, just like they do in WH space.
Sadly true, but I know that some of us CSM try. Others I am not even sure if they made any promises, or needed to. They were voted in on the power of blocs. But I am working on stuff I said I would be working on and doing my best to keep my word.
That includes reading this thread and shaking my head.
I think every change made in game has that potential. Not because of the change but because of the skill of Eve Players to exploit, reutilise, imagine, and loophole any tool given them.
So some of the CSM are asking questions about the proposed ESS, trying to help fine tune and identify some of the obvious concerns. To that regard I am here, reading. Looking for solid questions and concerns, not just ‘woe the sky it be a fallin’ ‘5 accts unsubbed’.
I actually considered to write a full response, including some facts about wh mechanics and difference between your words and actual activity in null but with that point of view “they are not even humans, they have to do this and that, have to be nerfed and forced while god forbid i gotta do anything extra to achieve my goals”, yeah, this kind of attituda is not a good ground for any conversation.
Well there are no real mechanics that are known for us at this moment, so i would not expect much questions or concerns from players yet.
You are right about the potential and reasons for that potential, no question about it. What scares me though is yet another great idea from CCP “yeah, that´s how it will work” despite players future concerns “it will be exploited like this” which CCP will just ignore by thinking “nah, it will be fine”.
I have seen this WAYY too often while serving on the CSM. Enough that at times I feel like I am suffering from a Cassandra complex. But that does not stop me from trying.
Sir, i beg you: try to convince them that they are not the smartest people on earth. I´m still bewildered by some of their desicions. I wish you nothing but success with that. o/
Nor is an assumption that farmer trash is anything but NPCs. It does everything it possibly can to avoid any meaningful interaction with other players, so why should its opinions on the subject be considered?
Why should your opinion be considered? Because you openly call other people who dont have same gameplay as you for “trash”? And if it is not enough: you even dont consider them being people. What a great interaction right there.
Because I understand game design, unlike some people in this thread.
Because you openly call other people who dont have same gameplay as you for “trash”?
Wrong. I call people who demand non-interactive risk-free farming trash, because they incessantly lobby for changes that harm the game while adding nothing of value. Plenty of people do things I don’t personally enjoy without being trash.
And if it is not enough: you even dont consider them being people.
How exactly are they people? They’re non-interactive NPCs in the background. Replace them with literal NPC ships and most people would never notice the difference, except that the forums would be much more reasonable and productive.
