Epic Arc Missions Update

I did not roll over your comment - my point was that if they were half way competent, they would not break it in the first place by a little bit of prior planning that asks themselves whether a planned change will unintentionally screw up existing stuff. Professionally, I deal all the time with “unintended consequences” and am expected to spot them before we cause them.

A simple start would be a listing of systems for Devs - this system is a starter system, think very carefully before you allow something to happen here; this system is an Epic Arc system, stop and think whether your change will impact adversely. Doubtless there are others that people could offer. That does not mean that you don’t change anything, but you at least have an idea of what you might be doing without meaning so to do.

It is a bit like an incompetent car mechanic upgrading your car by fitting a new sound system but then finding the windscreen wipers don’t work - “Don’t worry mate, bring it back in three months time and I will fix them then.”

I’m sure the wormhole CSM candidate addressed this as soon as he was briefed by CCP.

@Xeux

I didn’t think about COSMOS missions. I have not done them before.
This situation brings many other content into the cross hairs of possible issues or difficulties indeed.

As for others concerns I am glad more people out there are interested in this content and its availability.

The more that can share their interest in it the better.

I don’t see how changing things mid chapter 3 would be realistic though. If its still a changing state of Eves systems a change may just be needed again mid way through.

For those that are able to do them and have this is a bigger issue as its effecting their 3 month cool down timers ect right now.
I can empathize with that issue. It sucks.

Same with the SOE epic arc. That is a grind but it does feel accomplishing when done. New or old player its still a time investment and journey though Eve lol. As for how many jumps it is now vs before trig that is not fun to think about.

I am still in the building standings for the 4 empire npc corps and planning stages of things. I saw the invasion being a possible issue with routing and mission locations.

I just hope the damage control after this chapter is sufficient and explained to give people peace of mind knowing their content will be adjusted if needed to remain balanced and accessible as before.

I too hope CCP will take the various concerns and issues derived from the Triglavian invasion (and some of the other changes they have been implementing this year) into account, but I suspect their default stance will be aligned with what @CCP_Rattati replied in the frame of the Surgical Strike nerfs, back in April:

CCP has also a tendency to go ahead with their intended changes and additions with little attention to the feedback and counterarguments they receive, claiming it is all part of a plan with well-defined goals and consequences.

More often than not, these are not met, and things don’t turn out as they had foreseen. Yet it is rare for them to revert or address said changes - much less in the short term. But we shall see.

I think you meant to say the 4 Empire Factions.

Anyway, if you’re looking to gain Faction standings easily and quickly, check out ‘The Plan’.

Not necessarily.

While having a standing above 5.0 with the respective factions would obviously do, superseding any lower corp standings, the requirement to start the L4 arcs is to be met with specific NPC corporations, i.e.:

  • Amarr: Ministry of Internal Order
  • Caldari: Expert Distribution
  • Gallente: Impetus
  • Minmatar: Brutor Tribe

These standings are only checked for the starter agent. Once you get the first mission, any other agents you are forwarded to don’t need any minimum standings to be met to continue.

Oh yeah, that’s right. I forgot about that.

Course the other 2 standings, Faction and Agent, will also need to be above -2.00 for access.

Hello Tau Hopper, and DeMichael Crimson

Thank you both for your standing gain information.
The plan has been useful for reference and ideas indeed. I have used some of its options and ideas before.

My chosen method for Epic arc entry was doing the faction that is tied to the empire for 5.0 to do it on their behalf. I have done the SOE arc for one faction as well to help slightly.

Distribution missions are what I’m doing on my characters. Minmitar takes a bit longer due to them not having a level 3 Distribution agent for the corp needed. So its a level 2 situation lol.

Its not as bad if you have skills maxed for standing gain at least.

If anyone has any other conflict issues on arcs they have seen or heard of that would be of interest too.
Thanks in advance if any share systems or route issues.

Expert Distribution also has security missions, thats the route we take when we permanently open the arcs up in USIA

The issue here is that it’s not an unintended consequence. They intended it to be harder for people to do all the stuff they were doing before with this content. That was the point of it.

The people complaining about it are doing so because they don’t want the disruption, but the disruption was literally part of the game design.

Well, either their logic or their competence sucks.

“They intended it to be harder for people to do all the stuff they were doing before”? The Career Agents and the Bloodstained Stars arc are aimed at new players. Why make stuff harder for them, unless you want to drive them away even quicker? No one is complaining about ordinary missions being screwed, quite simply because those are not screwed - if a normal mission takes you somewhere you do not wish to go, you simply decline and wait four hours for no risk.

What we are talking about are rather different, special, missions that should definitely not be griefed for new players; for the higher level arcs, the issue is more one of commitment - finding out that the risks suddenly escalated massively when you have already ground your way through half the arc. This is miles away from disrupting haulers to Jita. I am afraid that the messing with the new player stuff in particular simply shows that CCP has no understanding of the NPE, nor, with respect, does anyone on the CSM other than @Mike_Azariah apparently care. Nor is it any good for them to say that CCP might think about fixing this in several months’ time - they will be gone by then.

I realise that you have said that you have never flown the Bloodstained Stars. With respect, if you do not understand the issue, please do not defend CCP’s actions.

I literally brought this issue up, but I guess I don’t care.

I didn’t defend them. I explained to you why they appear to be doing what they did. With respect, read what I write and don’t read into it.

It is actually kind of funny. CCP made a list of systems where highsec gankers weren’t supposed to gank players less than 30 days old. Among those systems were a bunch of them on the SOE epic arc. Somehow, they forgot to tell the Trigs.

My apologies then - your response came over as more than a tad defensive, but if that was not your intention, then I am sorry I read it that way. And a genuine thank you for raising the issue.

Exactly my point. The first step would be for CCP to tell their devs to look at that list - most of them probably do not even know it exists - and tell them to exclude that small number of systems from changes that increase the risk significantly.

Any updates on this issue?
I am a new player (Amarr) and am now stuck - I have to take a massive route thru nullsec to get to Arnon and the path from there is just as vague. Worst is my 30 days “grace” is running out fast…

Is CCP trying to focus game play on a specific type of player? One who has lots of time everyday to roam around in EVE? If so, then I am buggered bcose my daily available play-time is rather limited…

There is no 30 day expiration timer, Alpha accounts can play indefinitely, they’re just limited to certain skills and equipment.

You don’t have to go through Null Sec space to get to Arnon system, you can go through High Sec systems that takes you through Ammatar and Minmatar space. Since it’s going to take you longer to travel that route, you can run some low level combat anomalies along the way and make some ISK en-route to your destination.

Thank you sire. I ended up using DOTLAN’s map to plan my route and got there safely.

ps: I meant the 30 days in the Rookie Griefing

Though be advised that the anti rookie griefing rule does not protect you from destruction nor pvp in general and especially does not apply everywhere uniformally either.
