Equinox in Focus: Personalized Ship SKINs

I watch mine on my main.

I think being able to adjust the shape of a ship, within the bounds of the model box would be even more cool than skins.

Basically, the model could be skewed and changed based on the grab boxes of the model box itself.

Stats however would not change.

Hey! Thank you for the feedback. Many of the issues you’ve highlighted, such as the pattern reset with the editing of SKINs, and select hulls not properly displaying, are in the process of being addressed and we hope to have an update out pretty soon for you. Without giving too much away, we totally agree that a preview system - where you can simulate colors and patterns before purchasing - is a fantastic quality of life addition. The SKINR tool is absolutely something we plan to build on, not just in the summer but in future expansions. Definitely keep an eye out for news items next week, and you’ll hopefully be pleasantly surprised!

I don’t know about the actual skillbooks, but you can buy the skills by right clicking on them in the skill page.

Hey there @Okuda - this looks like it may be a problem with your graphics drivers, distortion like this is not something we’ve seen reports of previously.

If updating your drivers doesn’t prove fruitful, please file a technical support ticket and the GMs will do what they can to resolve your issue.

My thumbnails in SKINR look distorted like these as well (older graphics card).

I want to pitch this forward, though sincerely believe you must be thinking about this: Multiple patterns slots per skin.

Having a single pattern slot dramatically limits the creativity. The power we’d get with even a secondary pattern slot would be massive! Please add this soon.

Also, the colors are extremely limited. We should at least be allowed to lighten or darken the colors within a range, if not just have full color wheel capability. You could still focus on specialty colors, and put more attention to patterns, where the creativity really comes from.

I want to like this system. I really do. The null changes have been almost entirely negative. The new skinr tool has all the appearances of a broken app from the google store. Many of us clearly want it to be something special. You guys can wait until we just don’t want to engage with it anymore, at which time, you’ll have a skeleton population (probably myself included) still dabbling at it. This sort of feature is often one of my biggest time sinks and enjoyments in games that allow it. Now that EVE has this type of system, I’ve invested massive amounts of time and resources into the system. Please make it worth that investment. It has so much potential. To date, we’ve only received hot air and vaguely worded promises of things to come.

I’d like to also pitch the ability to select a limited zone on a ship where a pattern would be applied, not just the layer.

To clarify, a drag box, to select a location that will be affected, or perhaps not affected by the pattern.

Or maybe an eraser, to clean the pattern off areas selectively where we’d prefer it not to be.

Per the above requests regarding patterns:
• A second pattern/color slot would be phenomenal (but not essential). While being able to apply said pattern(s) to limited areas would be neat, this isn’t a deal breaker (I’m not entirely sure what level of development that would require in any event - probably more than we suspect).
• More patterns please!

Could we possibly get some ā€œPersonalizationā€ options for EverMarks or PLEX? A New tab under the Personalization section, ie: ā€œF/Xā€:
• Engine glow, bastion glow, hull lighting (window lights), floodlights (the lights that shine out from the front of the hull)
• Any and all manner of special effects (fine with PLEX only for these), such as smoke, flame, lightning, etc.
