Granted, however consider my observation regarding botters constituting a different kind of PCU, as they ideally want to be as active as possible, for as long as possible, with as many accounts as possible.
In otherwords, botters are a constant, numerous underlying baseline in PCU.
Something that also occurred to me considering PCU overall, is it has been artificially buoyed by SP farm based logins since the inception of extractors.
I’m an Aussie (just in case the name didn’t give it away). DT is 9pm my time.
And why would it be botting if I didn’t live in such a TZ?
What are you basing your assumptions on?
Is it simply because something doesn’t fit with what you consider “normal”
Why does he have to do anything other than log them in? Is it botting (in your obviously narrow minded opinion) if he just logs them in and moves them from place to place every now and then?
“In all your years of Eve” presuming this is your only char you haven’t done much of anything - In the less than a year you’ve had Fluffy Moe. Fluffy Moe, created 1/3/2017, makes you just under a year old. In an NPC corp with no killboard history - You my friend are a true expert on how everyone plays the game…
I run 3 monitors, have run solo HQ’s in nul, run a 15 man mining gang (still do when the mood strikes), run bombing squads, have 20 manufacturing alts and NEVER used any sort of automation.
I’m sorry your so narrow minded and have such limited experience with life in Eve and must add - You are totally wrong.
Simply because you are incapable of multiboxing more than 2 or 3 accounts doesn’t mean everyone else is.
And to be honest, I take offence to being called a liar and accused of botting by a noob with less than 12 months game time under his belt.
WOW, I never mentioned PCU - I clearly said “Online Average” two very different things.
So, “Unique users” are defined how?
Would it be a person logging in a character?
and out of the 175k “unique players” logged in over 24 hours the average per hour was? Let me give you a hint, it’s less than the PCU. PCU is taken from the time when the server had the most players online - Whereas the online average, is how many were online “on average” over the 24 hour period.
I currently have 8 active accounts - am I one unique player - or 8 unique players?
Over a 24 hour period I can log in 20 or more characters at different times - Is that 20 unique players or does CCP track each account over the 24 hours for logins.
I have no interest in the next many pages of what defining botting is and an afk player.
Save for this. Company policy allowing multi client/character interaction is the crucible that forged the way for the Botting fleets and the associated RMT practices. The policy choice exponentially damages the foundation development, future policies, player interaction, revenue stream, and in general the whole experience. Gaming is cheapened and many don’t care about the braggadocio of how much a player can obsess and the lengths they will go in that obsession.
CCP was fully aware of the dynamic and from the onset and chose to capitalize on it without regard to the long term growth.
All gaming companies do this now.
In a sense allowing you to become a device for gain using peoples lack of ability to self moderate. Its called being a slave to perceived necessity. Not what I consider fun in that context.
It’s funny. One totally clueless person being educated by a mildly less clueless person and in the end both don’t really know much of anything about the topic they’re discussing.
I could set the record straight, but fear it would be a waste of my time.
Ah my bad. You said 35K, which also isn’t the average online this year (your claim). 25K is. 35K is actually the average PCU. So my bad to think the 35K was what you really meant.
So:
2000 is not 8% of the playerbase (your original claim)
2000 isn’t even 8% of the playerbase online in a 24 hour period (your modified claim)
35K is not the average online so far this year (also your claim)
So your figures are mixed up and the interpretation of them is wrong.
As for how does CCP know what is unique, that has been discussed to death. We know of at least 3 pieces of data they use, but they may have others. That was discussed to death following that Fanfest presentation. So your 20 characters for example, is still just 1 unique player.
I tried to quote a particularly moronic part in your post but couldn’t find one because it’s totally clueless in its entirety. Having heard some buzzword somewhere doesn’t make you an expert about the topic and throwing a few words around only makes you look like a moron.
It’s not like you’re alone with that, appears to be the order of the day that most people on the internet think themselves experts about things they don’t understand in the least.
And if you want to know how bots are “seeing” local, they analyze the rendered frame, something CCP can’t detect. Hence the only way to stop bots from doing that is to prevent local from being rendered in the first place (e.g. remove it), but then they’ll switch to position themselves at gates and see you coming there.
Add in the scanner window and they’ll “see” wormholes too, although docking up whenever a new random anomaly pops up in the system would at least add to their downtime.
This right here is the classic example for “I’m making suggestions about things I don’t understand”. It isn’t hard to capture keystrokes and mouse clicks, but that would accomplish nothing at all. Bot developers aren’t dumb.
Obviously you seem to have reading comprehension issues. I specifically stated that automating the login process is botting, not you living or playing at reset times. Due to my weird work schedule I also often get my playtime inturrapted by the reset as I often play around 1-4 AM Pacific Standard Time.
And also if you’re such a vet then you should understand what an alt is, and why to never use your main in this game even on the forums. Personally I go back far enough to understand even the IRL reasons, and that is all I will state on the matter.
And yea, weather you appreciate it or not, running this many accounts to me is dubious at best and I absolutely stand by what I said. The vast majority of the “high multiboxers” (my personal reference for 4+ accounts) bot or use macros or automate at least partially. There are very few legit players outside of mining which is a slow enough activity for it not to require too much attention, that can actually do OK with this.
To me, multiboxing, AFKing for almost 24/7, botting, macroing, all that is the same ■■■■ of the same ilk and should meet the same end. So take all the offense you want if you’re one of those people then I wouldn’t mind a single bit if you GTFO this game. The more of you leave the better.
It’s the internet. Self-proclaimed experts with totalitarian personality disorder everywhere, so yes, it is. Investing time in a educating well-thought-out post is almost always a waste of time, especially here.
But I do have to say that I’m surprised by your response. Wouldn’t have expected that based on your usual posts.
I suppose, just be careful not to tar everyone with the same brush and assume everyone is like that. If I’m wrong on something I’ve got no problem admitting it and revising my views.
Wow…almost like they’ll switch to a different strategy and…evolve. And look they are doing it in response to CCP doing something in response to bots…kind of like they evolving together.
So your judging others by your standards, narrow minded ones at that.
I wonder if all these noob highsec scrubs are aware of where Eve would be to day without the dedicated players that have been here for years…
And what gives anyone the right to say how much time or effort I can put into a game I enjoy.
The 4 months you’ve spent floating around highsec has given you such insight you are in a position to not only tell others how they should play a game BUT you also take it upon yourself to tell the owners of the company they are doing it wrong… Please Babi, put the dummy back in and keep your uninformed opinions to yourself.
I agree with all you have said. Its already taking hold in China where they have nearly 175 million devices used for facial recognition. The most absurd one is being used to dispense toilet paper in public restrooms such as ones used in parks. The new phones will only increase its use.
No doubt every situation you described will happen. Yet the push for it will occur and persist.
Honestly its not a world I want to be part of. I like my privacy.
READ MY POST - Pretty sure it doesn’t say year it says 24 hour period. 35k was the average at the time for the 24 hour period, I posted in.
I give up, you obviously only read what you want to see And have nothing of value to say. You are worse than the noobs that come here trying to tell us how to play the game and what’s wrong with it - You should know better but pretend to be a fool ( at least that’s how I read your posting history)
You have trouble understanding English? I clearly stated AVERAGE OVER 24 HOURS and you somehow turned it into a year.
Please repost or link where I said 35k was the average for this year (it is the average for the previous 12 months - just for interests sake… Pretty sure you’re making this up.
