Eve is Dying!

I am glad you have these moments to remember, that is why we make plans for the future. Although in my advanced years, I don’t plan very far ahead anymore. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Have fun!

Kind of like most large null-sec alliances, lol.

Good article and I have been thinking about things like this. One of the other games that I play is on proverbial life-support. Another just lost half its devs.

I once bought a lifetime sub to a game that closed its doors less than a year later.

Eve still has the spark, the life.

You can feel it when the tide changes, the wind turns.

I am still flying, still playing, in my own way.

Eve existed longer than many people.

Eve allowed me to experience the future life of humans in space. It’s so realistic that even the human behavior stays the same.

Its awesome to see the replies in the thread. So thank you for that.

Eve is a true community, and like such, I think we will all mourn and grieve in our own way. I do wonder how long the monument will stay in Iceland, or how many Eve gatherings or pilgrimages will continue after the game itself is gone. The memories will live on in blogs and articles and, yes, even spreadsheets we have attained and collected throughout these years. Hopefully some of you have created some real friendships and even a relationship or two with real live human beings because of Eve, and that they will continue while we are on the upper side of the dirt.

I love how Eve is more than just internet spaceships and pixel warriors.

And until then… fly dangerously and when you die leave a beautiful killmail!!

Yup. Sometime tomorrow (forgot to look exactly when), my Omega account will officially run out and EVE will have finally died. For me anyway….

Just not sure if I should put ol’ MaxiPad on ice for a couple of years or if I should turn him into Soylent Green. People do need to eat.

The EVE is dead. Long live the EVE!!!

Ice him; you never know when you might get the itch, and it’s always better having that option than regretting it years later that you biomassed and lost all those SP and progress.

I don’t know. I found the game much more challenging and fun while Max was growing. Now he has all the skills he needs and too much money, the risk is no longer there and it feels too grindy. If I were to play again, I would probably enjoy starting from scratch.

You realize you have more character slots on an account and you can always build an alpha account these days and try something new?

Theres even people that try to create a character and only supply everything they use personally through finding it themselves, manufacturing it themselves, etc to make it super hard. Or theres others that visit every system in the game or set goals for themselves beyond what the usual goals of ‘killmails’ and ‘isk hording’ create for people.

Sounds like a failure in fun because the goals youve set for yourself are too shallow and low. I may be wrong and misunderstanding ur situation but often times Ive seen this for people in game. Creating goals so big and grand that you have to become a new person in order to accomplish them creates the biggest growth in character imo.

But if not, enjoy the real world, touch grass and live life to the fullest, whatever you decide.

I brought Gloria all the way from being my lowest SP char, just used for scouting, to being my main and highest SP char. My own person feeling is that you don’t really get far with SP until around 22 million SP, when all of a sudden things progress quite rapidly.

Eve will make a ultimate Eve-X-Fleet edition for Switch2, physical cart, and solo missions, then add multiplayer mode, make another copy, and call it Eve-X-Destruction, with both offline and online Destruction Arenas, you can ram your ship and lose a part, but also reinforce the “ram”…

Then make them digital only for Steam at the same time, no Playstation, because they must XXX…

1st person shooter.. NO

1st person solo-multi X-Vengeance and destructible Arena PvP derbies with their own tournament,

that eventually could become an E-Sport… that where I would stick my money to.

Nobody will ever take out Halo, COD, etc. they got too much money.

Regular EVE could now stay afloat without having to take bank loans to pay their core devs.

But please listen sometime…

No Playstation: Im’ serious about it.

Physical Switch2 copy: Same thing.

Steam Digital linked with the Switch2 games! 100% right!

My goal in EvE is to kill all the miners!

Id say thats a lofty goal Aiko. Something tells me, though, that it’ll never happen, but a girl can try! :smiling_face_with_horns:

Alt! Make a third Switch copy, this time you need to kill most miners in the lesser time.

Solo offline, and Online multiLAN-Ethernet parties.

3 Games, 1st Frigate shoothers, and EVE is safe for the next 10 years.

Aiko has already given the perfect Blueprint for most of the gankers missions to miners…

Please put a cap on the CEO anyway… if a wrong direction comes in place, it could sell-out the game, let it die, sabotage it, and walk away with all the cash… this is a big problem in all companies…

One man, can ruin an entire franchise… Bethesda is the obvious example…

like… put a paragraph in it’s contract, that if EVE is not making enough money to pay all employers, and give back zero or negative dividents, his wage, will be cut to that of the lower developer wage, and redistributed into the company itself, as if it was its own small bank.

I think my issue is that I’m not really a MMO player. I generally play single player RPGs. I liked EVE because I could pretty much play it as such. I just considered the other players as more difficult content. In the beginning, There were goals that made sense. Real goals. Skilling up, getting good a certain content, etc. My issue now is once you learn the aspects of the game you enjoy and get good at them, the game gets easy and almost risk free. My 2 go to activities have been null/wh ratting with a T3 cruiser and null/wh non-combat exploration with a covert ops frigate. These activities yield over 20 billion ISK a month. So I plex omega and replace ships I loose. The rest of the ISK just accumulates. I’m at the point now where I have so much ISK and nothing to buy that the excitement and risk is pretty much gone. I don’t even d-scan anymore. If I get caught and killed I just buy a new ship and repeat.

I think the game has a very difficult learning curve but once you learn the game, I’ve found each activity to be very one dimensional and simplistic. Maybe if replacing the covert ops frigate cost 20 billion ISK it would make it important not to loose, but in the current in-game economy it’s just too easy to make ISK.

As for creating my own goals. Personally, I really need a reason to do it, and the effort needs to have an in-game effect. This I why I like RPGs. As you progress in the game, the story and even content evolves. Not so much in a MMO.

Having said all that, I’ll probably keep Max and maybe play for a month each year or something. EVE is a really good game for the right kind of players, For me, a side project EVE like Escape Velocity would probably be in my sweet spot.
