Why is this even a subject for discussion? A company will always present success stories to the media, even up to the point when they file for bankrupcy.
And before anyone jumps to any conclusions, I’m not saying anything specific to CCP games or EVE. This is just how media relations work in general. There is absolutely no reliable information in that news article whatsoever.

I’m thinking that kind of person is a massive pile of idiotic, useless bullsh!t, that will require heavy equipment to haul them out of their parent’s basement.
The group align and warp is a fleet command. Unless you’re talking about all jumping the gate at the same time?
Cycle the clients and give them all the “jump” command after you’ve gotten them all aligning. They’ll all jump automatically when they land. If all alts have the same Navigation skill using the same fit, they’ll align/warp/jump as one unit.
Jump, docking, even a fleet of ganking catalysts & coercers.
I’m not that slow but I doubt I could *instantly( control that many accounts.

@Andlaust explained it above you, but I’ll break it down further: you don’t have to be at the gate/station to activate jump/dock button. You do it before you land on the gate/station. And all your characters will jump/dock as soon as they come out of warp. I do it with my 2 accounts, and I imagine it works just as well for more than 2.
It may look like input broadcasting/botting, but it’s not.
Yeah, masters download a broadcasting app and set it up to handle 30+ accounts. 
May I ask, where might you feel that you are currently positioned on that learning curve?

how many were multiboxers in 2009 when the numbers were 50k instead of 35k? Kind of a red herring considering multiboxing has always existed.

People have created countless numbers of Alpha Alts for literally any purpose. Because they are free.
I have alts for Rolling WHs, Alts for seeding WHs with a scanner to give me access whenever I want, Alts for watching certain systems of interest, Alts for buying certain items off the market if they hit a certain threshold and so on… And most people I know have them too.
All those alts are counted as “players”, yet they add zero life to the game. None of them will ever see Omega. Most of them will never see any player interaction (unless caught by bad luck).
The current numbers aren’t even remotely comparable with the activitiy 2009 - 2015. If I had to do a rough estimate, I’d say less than 50% of real players are left and the login numbers are only kept up through multiboxing and masses of free alphas.
CCP has driven out half of their player base through bad design decisions, catering the big groups over and over. Kicking small groups into the nuts over and over and watching the game skeletizing around growing and stagnating grindblocks that stockpile assets and ISK to the point where it gets simply ridiculous.
