Hello, dear CCP team!
My name is Sergey, and I would like to inquire about the progress of implementing accessibility features for players with visual impairments in EVE Online. This topic is of great significance to me, as I am a completely blind player myself, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to enjoy your fantastic game, just like many other players. A few years ago, I raised this question and made a proposal on the forum, and here is the link to that post: Link to the message.
I’d also like to provide examples of other companies and video games, such as Blizzard and their games like World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Diablo III and IV; The Last of Us Part I (Remake), The Last of Us Part II by Naughty Dog; as well as Doom, Hades, Slay the Spire, Aps Dusk Falls, Brook Investigator, Crusader Kings 3, and many others, which have already introduced accessibility support for visually impaired players. Some companies implemented accessibility features on their own, while others provided tools that allowed the community to create add-ons and patches for blind accessibility. These efforts have enabled players with various disabilities to enjoy the gaming world and interact with other players.
In addition to my personal interest, I am confident that supporting accessibility will bring more diversity and inclusivity to the gaming community. It will offer the chance for an even larger number of players to enjoy EVE Online and contribute to this captivating world.
I continue to hope that you, the CCP developers, will consider the possibility of implementing accessibility support for visually impaired players in the game. I am ready to collaborate with you towards this goal. Let’s make EVE Online more accessible for everyone!
Thank you to everyone supporting this idea.
With respect and hope, Sergey.
