EVE Online: Legion - Expansion Notes

Are you any good at making skins?

*Seriously

@Meridan_Night Thanks for the expanded list. CCP Nikon asked me to remind him again on Tuesday, so I will add these additional colors to the list as well.

@Swing_Vote1 Am I any good at making SKINs? Yes, I can hold my own.

I’ve got a bunch of SKNR stuff.

If you’d like, I’ll contract it to you for free.

It’ll take a minute to round it all up and get it to Jita.

Is this your in-game name?

It is, thank-you. If you have a popular ship just let me know - I’ll design something for uou.

So do i have to bribe someone to get this damn bug fix :red_question_mark: (can a bottle of brown liquid even get past @GM_Stinger) :red_question_mark:

Its now 212 days since Skinr started removes a non english letter from the Windows user when trying to make the skinr chase file And obviously fails every time for this reason :frowning:
and 141 days since I was told it would be fixed soon :frowning:

Skinr thumbnails back plz :bangbang:

I finally got around to using the Gravastar Black, which is listed in the metallic section but appears matte in the Hub.

Well, despite that lovely matte appearance in the Hub, it is a metallic…

The shot on the right is taken in Dodixie Fed Navy, after the skin was applied.

Personally, I think all those seemingly matte metallic skins are probably straight up metallics despite all visual evidence to the contrary during the creation process.

What you see in SKINR, at least with Gravastar Black, is not what you get in the final and applied skin.

Well, then the SKINr design studio is even worse. Not only does it not have adequate lighting simulation, but it doesn’t even display the textures correctly.

I am glad to hear that the metallic elements are indeed metallic, even though they appear matte in the SKINr studio. However, it’s hardly a consolation, because one can’t design SKINs like that for obvious reasons.

Thanks for letting us know, Sere O’Asis.

EDIT: I had the time to go and take a look in the Paragon Studio, and all of the metallic textures (incl. Gravastar Black) that lacked metallic component are now metallic also in the Studio environment. So, that has been fixed. Thanks!

And this is the most funny part:

  • one can spend significant time creating skin
  • another can spend hefty amount of ISK buying this skin

But will there be anyone but these two to even see this skin and appreciate?

I do think one creates/buys SKINs for one’s own personal pleasure. It definitely won’t be something you can show off (unless you’re a bridging titan). I have created a number of designs for my favorite ships in the game and it’s just that, for my own enjoyment. I do like SKINr creation, because this way I really can make my ships look the way I think they’re supposed to be. But, it is expensive, and most of the time you can use your ISK more wisely.

Any word on these “color-shifting” nanocoatings mentioned so prominently in the expansion news? I’m not seeing anything about them in game anywhere, or anywhere else outside of game for that matter.

They are the ones in the daily login track

Well, I am not seeing any kind of a color shift on those in the Paragon Studio. How long is one supposed to stare at them for that to happen? More likely the color shift just doesn’t show up in the Studio at all, and you won’t see what it’s like till you apply it to an actual ship.

It shifts with lighting not with time, and yes with the lighting of the studio you can’t see it as much.
