Hey, what are your thoughts on the current state of mining in the game?
Hi Mike, good to see you and thanks for posting…
I’m just wondering in all of your past experiences dealing with CCP, did they ever say anything about continuing the Jove storyline?
Basically the last episode was an exploding star, decloaked stations and a complete shutdown of their entire Jumpgate system…
I know over the years CCP has been busy incorporating new storylines into the game, and they’ve pretty much completed them… However the Jove storyline is still incomplete, seems like such a waste to just abandon it…
I am not a miner, these days, but I think the dawn of ships like the rorqual was the sunset for small mining ops. I do understand the peace of sitting in a belt and occasionally switching rocks, a lovely screen saver and semi passive income.
I Miss drone pooh, I have always wanted there to be ‘something else’ to mining. Things like rare drops that have to be towed in, archeological remains, that sort of thing. RNG stuff but perhaps a bit tougher to bot giving incentive to live miners.
And that brings us to the biggest issue. Bots. But that is another topic entirely

Is the whole bot situation better or worse than we imagine?
As I have no idea what you can imagine I am unable to answer that correctly. I have been to more than one security team meeting at CCP over the years and I have a lot of admiration for what they can and do do. But in this situation, like in a lot of Eve N+1 is still a thing.

Are we winning or losing the war on bots? CCP used to give us regular security updates but we haven’t had these in quite some time. Every major alliance supposedly has (or at least tolerates) a sizeable bot component in their organization. Whether or not this us tied directly to RMT is anyone’s guess.
Wow, ok…
Guess no answer to my question is actually an answer in itself…
Meaning the Jove storyline is dead and deeply buried now…
I too am curious with respect to your question.
Sorry about that, skipped to next question and missed yours. No I do not have any insider info on story lines but I do know that some of the internal writers of such things tend to come and go from the company which makes for continuity hiccups.
I agree with you in that dangling plot ends are irritating to the players and probably to some of the devs who care about such things.
