EVE Online: Viridian - Expansion Notes

Mining in 0.5, pirates’ radio background noise remain active even after killing them all.

Free Omega week is good.

My alts have very little on their minds now.

Its all in blue jars

Really like the new Opportunity management so far.

Third day now and it’s mining ore for me still.

Sure, CCP trying to have us diversify activities…

I liked logging in, doing a couple Lv 4/5’s NPC missions while watching my podcasts and then off to bed. It’s mindless but it was fun for me and relaxing. If I was to do another activity, I’d be saving up for those PvP Filaments events and the odd FW.

My friend got the “Kill 5 Traglavs” in Abyss space. He spend over 2 and a half hours for the abyss RNG to give him Traglavians just so he could complete that. That’s our evening gone as when we’re both on, we do a couple level 5.

CCP, Could you just give us “kill 1 or 10 NPC’s for SP” back, please.

CCP, Thank you.

I’m pleased as punch for the changes you’ve made started making releasing uprising. I have yet to fully understand the impact on me for my playstyle (HS research and manufacturing) but I think you on the right path.

Why do you do that in the first place? looks like ccp’s move from sandbox to theme park mmo is paying out already.

When you do that please start selling ever marks on the market or in the store! None of us are doing missions for a temp license Maybe if you make gankers have x number of marks to gank a freighter or a miner! lol Then I would consider wasting my time for something that last a short time!

They want you on a stupid mission in a shiny ship for evermarks that get you a temp license! That my friend is a total waste of time that just repeats it’s self over and over! If you see me doing an evermark mission, please shoot me on the spot! lol

I’ve never had an experience then just now where 10 “suspected” destroyers were waiting for me at the end of my Abyssal run. I didn’t have anything of value so they didn’t attack me. I was interested in the kills for the SP and not the loot.

I’m prepared for my level 4’s to be invaded by gankers but never for a Abyss run…

If anything. These new challengers has made the gankers happy.

The replacement window for the Journal is worse.

The missions list that appears on the left of the floating UI. Each mission takes up more space and provides less information than the old one did.

Why waste Dev time downgrading existing features?

Seems to be consistent with the latest UI design principles of CCP. :upside_down_face:

Did you not play when using an Abyssal Filament made you Suspect?

Man those were great days Eddie, great days

No, they actually taught you a lesson: If you leave any Abyssal Site, there can be gankers waiting outside. So better prepare in some ways:

  • don’t fly anything expensive, so a loss can be replaced easily
    or
  • have a corp that can warn you if gankers enter the system where you run your abyssals and send counterships to drive them off before you have to leave
    or
  • hide your trace far off the Dscan in some remote system where barely anone shows up, so the chance that they will ever find you is close to zero

It has made you a better EVE player, so embrace the experience as a chance to learn.

I must just somewhere mention that I am very unsatisfied with the new daily challenges, at first look it felt great, but now, in my free omega week, I am having like 90% mining, on a character i am not ever going to mine anything. full combat skills.

Since first day when all my quests were SP combat ones, now all my quests are mining ones, aand IF a single combat, it is for evermarks I have no use of.

This also helped me to decide not to purchase a pack to extend my omega, I have no daily goal I used to have and I am not boosting up my experience gain which I consider the most fun part of the game.

People should at least have choice of what they enjoy, otherwise its just uselless random content, losing its value, and any attempt of completing it would turn into second job…

What? You played EVE to fullfill the daily challenges? Holy moly, do you have any idea what you miss? These “daily challenges” are just a gimmick, something you can consider running when just nothing else is to do or just enjoy the little reward when completing them by coincidence.

Best advice you will ever get for enjoying EVE: disable the display for all these “challenges” and make a plan for yourself of what do you really want to achieve long therm. Then look out for people who are good in whatever that is, contact them and tell them you want to learn from them. Most will answer you and be willing to teach you. Be it a professional industrialist, PvE-expert, smallscale PvPer, FleetCommander, CorpManager or Ganker. And completely forget about any goals CCP or anyone else gives you.

I really do think the gamers of 2023 have not grasped the concept of a “sandbox” game where you can pick your activity and do what you want in a game… We can see this with the new tutorial or the daily challenges to give people more direction next to outright telling them what to do. It’s not wrong per say but we as players should understand the concept of sandbox games.

The world is your oyster as they say.

The game of 2023 does not advertise a sandbox. it advertises opportunities and other instant gratification tasks like dailies. The game of 2023 does not encourage using your brain to play the game, if you want to win use your wallet to buy some packs. so it attracts a different species of games:

Look at the thread where the FW guy whines about being killed by another guy of the opposite faction and ccp did not yet reimburse his pod he choose to lose.

Except of course expect your plans to be voided instantly at any time on the whim of CCP and some nullseccers who think they’re not earning enough.

I see youve at least read the EULA

If a plan can be voided instantly, it was a bad plan to begin with. All types of careers were possible at all times, no matter the changes or circumstances. The opposite is true, big changes allow the clever to profit the most.
