[quote=“Captain_Semper, post:137, topic:41433”]You all think that by allowing a newbie to fly to something larger than a frigate from the first day, he will definitely go to buy titan. For each departed such a beginner who will be killed in the belt and quite, there will be a dozen newbies who will remain in the game without timewall. This is a main point.

Why do you think more will stay after such a change? I can see how some solo guys would like it but anyone joining a “serious” corp without knowing how to use the shiny ship he bought is just going to be told to use something he can, well, use. Or possibly kicked because they wanted someone actually good at using that particular shiny ship. In a worst-case scenario they’ll go undetected until they actually manage to screw up a fleet action for their corp, causing major losses when they can’t handle the role their ship suggests they know! I imagine injector guys already cause some of this…
It would be a bit like those nice SoCT special edition ships that have low requirements to fly but take quite a bit to use effectively, wouldn’t it? You can basically take them out on a new alt before doing the tutorial missions, but it’s not a good idea and you will probably lose them to some rats.
Your idea is terrible. Just accept it and move on. If someone REALLY wants to try out a ship without waiting all they have to do is buy skill injectors and do it. You want this useless experience for free which isn’t going to happen.
I think you cant read. Even my English is better.
If there is no requirement to fly moros it doesnt change that you need all this skills. If you want fly THIS
well, its your choice. But tell me - how the hell this is broken…
Niiiiiice. This is how adults talks. Very constructive…
And may be you all forgot, but CCP already did this. Rigs.
And you know what? All of you were happy about that.
Nobody complain that 1day newbie could donate and fit T2 rigs. Nobody complained about that newbie must to learn to fly without rigs. That while he flying with no rigs he ADAPT or LEARN smth. No. You just cry “omg how this is cool!”
This is the same thing but in a greater scale.
Second thing. If you think that each 1day newbies will donate about 10K PLEX (≈400$) why it is bad for CCP?
But in real life you wont have lot people of that kind. May be even less than now. Because now they pay for SP to unlock new ship.
I think CCP have a statistic in what skills newbies invest most of SP injectors.
Not be surprised if it will be ship command.
Main reason why CCP gives us SP injectors is a timewall. SP injectors helps newbie to unlock ship and content a bit faster with $.
Well, they will want to buy injectors, because ship w/o skill is flying brick but at least you can try it.
Now take a character partly trained. Who might not have the cap skills but will have all the support skills trained to 5.
And those numbers will look hugely different.
A Moros & a Nag & a Phoenix & an Archon & a Mino…
Now that 30-60 days is multiplied by the number of ships involved, and now it’s out to several years worth of training.
O M G. Read: I DONT WANT TO REMOVE SKILLS!
Can you read thread before posting?
Dread w/o jump drive…cant jump! Surprise!
Do you want dread w/o jump drive? Guess noand jump drive pre-reqs is still there.
Not so. You still need to learn special weapon for each dread: capital hybrid for… capital hybrid damage and etc.
You still need to learn Gallente dread skill to unlock bonuses from moros’s hull.
So no, for now if you can drive moros and have others BS4, you need not so much time to fly another.
This will so even w/o pre-reqs. May be a bit faster but is this bad? Look for last 10 years. CCP always lower the time you need to learn smth new.
But you don’t need to train Gunnery V for each capital weapon etc, so you already have a massive chunk of the training done which gives you significantly increased DPS/Tank/etc.
And either you don’t need the requirements for the turrets also, or your example is fake.
Because you posted showing a day 1 character being able to fit & use capital modules, and if they still need the skills for the modules, then they aren’t going to be able to get into the ship much before they could have if they actually had to train it.
So yeah. You are still barking way way up the wrong tree on either path.
You dont need. Is it big differente between gunIV and gunV?
Just try it in eft and you will see that you still want to learn all guns that you need now. Because T2, because T2 ammo, because bonuses.
I think im not to clear due to my english…
Ok. You CAN fit capital turret into moros w/o any skill.
But you will not get any bonuses from it. Every level of capital hybrid turret skill gives you 5%. Right?
And to LEARN capital hybrid turret you need some prereqs.
I talking about remove requirements from modules and ships, not the books.
You still haven’t answered 1 critical question, OP. So say they remove all requirements, and a day 1 newbie can buy and sit in a dread on day 1. Yet you also say that we should keep the skills there to fly it effectively. Without those skills, they still wouldn’t be able to do anything. They have no cap, the guns won’t hit anything, and if they did it would just be like a gentle breeze. They can’t go on hot drops. So what is the point? Why should they bother wasting their time and money on a ship they still can’t use? What is your justification for having a day 1 newbie spend hundreds of dollars on the first day of the game? Please don’t use the tired excuse of “it’ll retain more players” because you still have yet to provide ANY proff that that statement is true. Please give us another excuse.
I answered it many times
Ok. Its about learning curve with a ship that you want to fly.
This is some madskillz paint :
Y axis - ship effectivness
X - ship accessability in time (how much day you need to learn to fly a ship)
E - effectivness with allV
Green - my suggestion
Red - current
You could fly a ship much earlier if yo want for some reason.
And if you keep flying plus learning skills that will improve your effectivness you will actualy feel PROGRESSION and impact of skills that you learned.
How you can feel impact of jump drive operation on caps if you cant try it without that skill?
Well the main reason i heard: I dont want newbie can drive titan from day 1. Yes i know that they can do it now. Yes i know that this titan will be a flying brick. I know that this change wont change a lot. So why i dont like it? Because why did i learn all this thing and newbie will get it for free! Its not fair!!!
Capitals wont be affect much. Its all about T1 sub-caps. With T1 fit. It will really helps newbies to try and master ship they want without timewall of few month. And they still will learn skills because it improves their effectivness dramaticly
Donaters always could do that. Even before SP injectors. With plex and charBazzar…
That’s adorable but you’re making a lot of assumptions. My point is actually: there’s no reason for this change at all, but it’s cute to see how hard you’re arguing for it.
