No helmar my love, i did not. Working as intended.
None of that applies to CCP. Please try to keep things in perspective here, EVE is a game with mechanics you don’t like, not a crime against humanity. Perhaps you should try to separate fantasy and reality?
(Not that you will, of course, because that would mean admitting that you aren’t a successful game developer.)
Ccp peddles false metric data
Prove it.
Start posting the monthly player/account metric data again. Lets see if eve is really getting 4k people a day, and its not alts.
Checkmate.
Only in your delusional world where I am CEO of CCP.
Us real designers know that there is more then mechanical application to a game helmar. We understand there is emotional and psychological application to it as well and not all of us have the balls to try to say that mankind is inherently evil and here is this game iv created that proves it (after peddling false data to try to make the games population rate seem stable when in fact its been in decline for over a decade (all-be-it a slow one).
Let me know if you wanna pay some of those millions you have running around for a real degree in design.
There you go again with the lying. Remember how you’re supposed to be separating fantasy and reality?
not all of us have the balls to try to say that mankind is inherently evil
Genesis 6:5, checkmate atheists.
Nope. The quality of the average player has definitely decreased as games have become more mainstream. Gaming used to be a geek thing, and now it’s not anymore. My previous post talked about this in slightly greater detail.
By gaming you mean dnd days, maybe.
lol
Its all about that 5d12 + 4 attack.
Gaming used to be open to anyone with a quarter to spend in the local arcade. And last I heard, having a couple of bucks in your pocket and hanging out at the mall is not the definition of geek.
You are living in a dream world, Neo.
Mr Epeen
Actually, it is, but I’m not surprised a boomer would think this way.
You mean someone who was actually there to experience the introduction of video games and computer games rather than learning about it on That Seventies Show?
Guilty as charged.
Mr Epeen
wen i started playing they said to me
ok kido the game is cruel
if they kill you, never cry ,never complain ,don’t be a wuss else they will take advantage of you
it worked
i think new players need some good advices like that
You mean someone part of the generation responsible for almost completely destroying the video game industry during the gaming crisis of the mid-80s?
Guilty as charged.
It was my generation that had to bail out gaming with our demand for “them nintenders” in the early 90s. Just like we’re having to bail you out after you shat up the environment with your 8 MPG SUVs, and your astronomical health care demands after a lifetime of drugs and cheeseburgers.
Red Foreman would slap the hubris right outta ya.
“Gaming” as in throwing a few quarters in the machine at the arcade when you were out doing something else was for everyone.
“Gaming” as in having games as a major hobby, buying gaming systems, getting into complex games beyond what the arcade offered, etc, was much less so.
It used to be that a non-geek playing something like WoW would be almost unthinkable. They wouldn’t have the PC for it, they wouldn’t have the interest in devoting that much time to it, and a lot of them would have been embarrassed to be associated with that kind of thing. Now that kind of gaming is far more mainstream and a lot of people who never would have considered playing EVE take an interest in it.
people say dark souls is hard
geting gud in centipede or missile command was hard
games were unfair af
people smoking in the arcades , all the drugs , and knives
good times
Calm down, carebear. We’re talking about a video game. You’re comparing PvP in a PvP game to animal cruelty. Get a grip.
Calm down, SJW. You can’t change human nature.
At least EVE Online provides a healthy outlet for people.
No. I’m not gonna “check my privilege” either.
Yeah so did Mao.
Shifting goalposts to hide the egg on your face.
Yes, i am a care bear. How did you ever figure it out. Iv been farming goon tears since before you hit puberty.
Evidence that its healthy?
Screaming at people to kill them, cut off their hands etc is “healthy”.
Just had a great thought, i should blog about these dark pasts.
So… Dark Triad?
Research. I’m a clinical therapist. This is sort of my wheelhouse. You should look into the Freudian concept of “sublimation”.
On a very deep level, games such as EVE Online are abstractions used for learning. They’re cooperative simulated competitions with agreed upon rules where people practice different ways of being in the world and of interacting with other people. It’s a space where people can act out different decisions - that they normally would not in real life - and see what happens. It’s a space where people can practice taking risks, practice cooperating with a group, practice leadership skills, and practice competition with others. It’s also a space that can serve to sublimate aggressive and antisocial tendencies (which all humans, especially human males, possess). Check out Piaget’s developmental psychology for more information.
It sounds like EVE Online just isn’t the game for you. That’s okay - we don’t all have the stomach for it. What happens in EVE Online is human nature in it’s pure form - tribalism, conflict, antagonism, beneficence, loyalty, betrayal, altruism, politics - with a dash of the Online Disinhibition Effect.
You’re experiencing the ODE right now by the way - I am 100% certain that you are not this insufferably histrionic in real life.
More shifting goalposts.
…
What does that have to do with EVE? Most people in EVE are capable of separating fictional events in a video game from reality.
Thread has been derailed time to close it. Eve was and still is a niche game, the learning cliff is a very steep ascent, with pitfalls, crevices, and overhangs to navigate your way through before you reach the summit. After reaching the summit, you find you have to deal with duplicitous humans which makes Eve a vast game because the cliff notwithstanding, CCP in truth offer very little oversight and leave the player base to harangue, scheme, scam, spy, awox, and do a myriad of other little nasties to its heart’s content. So your average gamer will become exasperated and leave in short order. That’s why I keep playing, all the crazy ways we come up with to screw each over is ■■■■■■■ awesome and can only be found in Eve Online. Nothing else out there compares, plus we get to blow up spaceships and thats ■■■■■■■ awesome as well.
