Alright, so you know those Gallente backgrounds that are being offered at Dodixie? Well I bought one (thinking it would be similar to the backgrounds shown in the promotional images, with the Blue, Green, and Golden clouds…well it is not. I am disappointed that this is not shown at all. Below is Moreau’s Gallente Background.

I was wondering how the backgrounds would look like.
That was my first thought too, but when I looked better I already had a hunch it wouldn’t look like the bottom picture as these didn’t look like specially made character backgrounds to me.
What you see behind those characters is just one hangar with a ship and three different colour filters and some photoshopped stripes over them. You can see the entire Gallente Election thing is just a layer over a picture of a hangar.
Looks good for a picture like that, but it also looks like it was made just for that picture, not for the character editor.
Now we just need to know the other two.

I got a Roden one and it is the flag in orange. Very underwhelming I agreethough, for 150 favour…

I didn’t finalize either, I just screenshot while I was in the editor. It does work like apparel as well.
I read it was a ‘consumable’ item. So, if you do happen to finalize portrait with it, it’s gone?
I no longer have the item to test it, but it functions like apparel when in the customizer at least. And is also in the apparel group. But it could be different :shrugs:
So if you used it, then made a new portrait without it, it doesn’t return to the hangar? Yours was used up, correct?
I didn’t use it, I saw what it looked like in the character customizer, screenshot that, then backed out.

Very underwhelming. I would not go out of my way to get these.
Since this is an election event, and capsuleers pick affiliations, the backgrounds should have at least some kind of mark to that purpose other than just a color. Why is Tenzin green but Moreau gray? Does that make any sense? Just put a candidate name on the background so that if one chooses, one can display his preference for any one presidential candidate.

Did you try different ambient lights in the character portrait screen?
I did not, however it’s pretty clearly not the same colors. I’m not disappointed with the look at least. But I was hoping for the wood look.
That’s a completely different use of colours!
It seems the tweet had the concrete background switch between grey/teal/brown with a metallic border while the game appears to have the same grey concrete in all three with the colour variation in the metal border.
Weird.
I would’ve liked the wood look as well, we have nothing like that in the game yet. But I must say the picture you got in the game looks a bit better. The metal edge seems more rough and realistic than the one in the tweet.
Yeah, it’s not bad. It’s just disappointing when you get something else than was advertised. I did change my portrait in game, until they have more Minmatar ones at least.
