Sorry, I was trying to say it could be crowded
Ah, haha. As my first “event” I have no idea how many people will be interested enough to show up. I’m guessing this type of event has been done before- but I haven’t heard of one.
I do like ur way of thinking. I’m putting an alpha alt in to Solitude soon, I might look u up.
And this is why the game has become a cesspool lately. “Content” is being defined as gank targets.
if that’s your interpretation- then you should pass.
I’m treating this as a training ground, both for hunters and for myself. If any crazy stuff happens, that’s all the better in terms of entertainment. True ganking involves extracting salt or getting expensive loot- of which, my ventures offer neither.
But like I said above, this event is clearly not for you, and you should pass.
I wasn’t trying to say anything about you or your efforts. But rather the general state of affairs lately. Other threads are also talking about “content” when what they really mean is “ganks”.
But to your training ground, I don’t think it is. You aren’t teaching anyone anything by advertising yourself and sitting around waiting for them to strike. You’re basically standing up a paper silhouette and saying “come shoot at this”. And you yourself aren’t learning anything if you’re purposely avoiding any kind of defense. All you’re training for is watching your ship explode.
You aren’t training, and you aren’t creating content. You’re padding other people’s killboards.
And you apparently aren’t reading very well
It’s not like the OP is planning to just sit there to get blown up.
Quick update:
The event has concluded.
Unfortunately, only one person showed up, and they were unable to lock me. I could tell they were still learning- so I gave them a few pointers. I want to thank everyone for their kind words in the thread.
Yep, it was my first PVP attempt. Strangely, neither I nor the victim got killed…
It was very very interesting.
Thank you for your time and effort with this event Complex Math.
That’s a shame, was hoping u would get some good participation. Possibly, maybe, low turnout was because ur in Solitude, not exactly the easiest area to get to for n00bs wanting to try out their pewpews.
But full credit for trying.
I had considered showing up as a victim, but DT is one hour after I should have gotten into bed. I did advertise the event in our discord, but real life did not agree with the event schedule. You helped me get Rylver’s first post on the forum, though, so I know he found this event interesting even if he could not attend. His character is older than this forum is, so getting his attention is quite a trick, evidently.
I had worked a 16-hour shift and all I could think was “I could be playing internet spaceships right now”. Thanks a lot, @Complex_Math for the attempt. I think if you did something event styled on a regular basis, you’d have a pretty good turn out after a short period. Reliable content is difficult in Eve and one of the main reasons it’s got such a high new player drop off I think.
Based on the feedback I’ve received- I WILL be doing another “Pop a Venture” event. Please give me a week or two to iron out the details- but I’ll give you all updates via this thread. Some of my thoughts for the next event:
- Location will be a lowsec system close to the center of New Eden- so less travel time for most of you.
- I’m working on creating a discord server that would allow for better coordination of these events. I’ll share the link once it’s up and running.
- Someone placed a 50 million isk bounty on me- within the last 24 hours. So… it looks like, going forward, you WILL receive a small isk payout every time you wreck my ship.
As always, feel free to reach out to me here or Eve Mail if you have any ideas.
