Event Feedback - Guardian's Gala 2019

Didn’t you know that you were supposed to mine extra during the previous event?

Also, the event spawns don’t seem to have any bounty on them, that combined with the (lack of) loot and salvage, looks like doing 1/10 anomalies is more rewarding… Is this normal?

Oh dear as someone who usually likes the events this one is very poor :frowning:
13m for a gamble wow …
loot drops from ships very very poor.
The mining part is ok as it does add something apart from just shooting.

The only way to make some isk or get something good is to play for many many hours be very very lucky and have lots and lots of isk.

@CCP_Falcon Was this event checked with legal department? The EULA forbids games of chance with CCP items by third parties. Is it OK if CCP itself offers a game of chance?

This event is a pure game of chance, pay ISK and receive an RNG loot box. The event sites are only secondary part, because the only way to get any reward is to gamble for ISK!

no i have several sites with in a small number of jumps.

agreed tipa, doesnt this fall under that anti gambling law they passed in euro as it passes gambling to people under the legal gambling age?

So, my basic concern with this event and any others is that an “event” should be more worthwhile than standard everyday play. It should be fun, but what one person thinks is fun another may detest. Events need to offer more positive outcomes than negative, which lootcrates do not. They should engage players with the lore of the game as well as other players.
If you want to draw players away from everyday play, you need to make it worth their time and efforts to do so. Rather than focusing on what you think is fun, offer better rewards at a better rate than normal play. Obviously you don’t want to destroy your economy with such an event, so, you would need to think carefully about what type of rewards you would give for the time and effort spent. But this event and the last one has drawn a lot of criticism over the fact that people lost money on opportunity cost because they could have done many other activities that would have been more rewarding.
That’s the exact opposite of a good event.
Just my 2 cents. I am trying to be as constructive as I can with this reply and I hope CCP takes it for what its worth. I love the game but I am not enjoying these events much at all.

I believe an argument could be made that since this doesn’t directly involve real money as some of the other loot box cases, that this falls into a gray area. However, given that real money can be exchanged for ISK, that’s a pretty slippery slope.

Legal or not, this just feels very wrong and, frankly, sleazy to me.

The optimal way right now to play this event is to buy the stuff on the market and gamble all day at your paradise of choice, because the loot worth per site is equal or less than the 13M you have to pay the slot machine for each ticket.

nah the law affected all sorts of games that didnt even take money, just gambling at slot machines on your cellphone with no real money what so ever was considered advertising gambling and banned from euro from the way i understood it

Heh.

It did not feel like 30 seconds to me.

I am starting to believe that I did have my shields on after all. To say I was surprised when I had Surprise ButtSex with the Guardian Angels Barachael is putting it mildly. I thought that I must have forgotten to put my shields on. I must have because I got popped like an Alpha in an Atron.

It is not a consolation that It looks like I have had lots of company. Word is they have fixed the dps issue. though and it looks like I got off easy compared to some.

Edit: gratuitous language.

Interesting. I only saw the actions against EA and others for the paid loot boxes, but I confess I haven’t tracked that issue too closely.

yeah we had Gambling like Eve poker and all that was dropped at the time of the set of laws so that eve wouldnt be banned in europe and all that, they also used the chance to strike RMT that was using the gambling ingame and shut them down.

Set aside the fact that event is not that well received for the ones doing it, but I’ve just spent the last 40 minutes in null searching for 1 site, not even 1! This is sad :frowning: And I was searching empty systems not fully crowded ones :((

I gambled with 10 tickets: https://evepraisal.com/a/l6dhv

It’s about the amount I put in.

Wow. That’s pretty awful.

Except for your time

Given the way the last two events went down, I’m holding out hope for a tweak in the next couple of days. Hope springs eternal!

Not much time, just 10min to find a paradise and click some buttons. Bought everything on the market.

EDIT:

The two tweaks necessary right now:

  1. repro rate 100:2 not 1000:2
  2. drop the fee to 1M

Yeah, I sat out the last one after being blown up by the “Invisible Cloud” the first time I went in to check it out. I figured I wait for that to get fixed, but then I read the comments here and never went back.

But Crimson Harvest was great for mining- I did a lot of it for that one.
