What is a Mordus Captain? Can’t seem to find any.
Turns out the task description is missed named. I think the Captain is suppose to be the Decurion.

While I enjoy waiting 30 minutes for every battleship to respawn I further am appreciative that when I finally kill it, it will drop 100 cruise missles.
Thank You.
I have the exact same problem as others have reported that the Agency Window is not showing anything when selecting the Permafrost Event…
Have created a support ticket but no response!
Have now also filled a bug report.
Get it fixed please!!!
Here’s my advice on a few small changes that could make these event sites tolerable.
Remove the junk drops. The wrecks make good warp-to points while in this site and if you’re in an agile ship then “warp, pew pew, warp, pew pew, warp” style of fighting can be fun. Unfortunately that rapid paced action grinds to a halt when you have to stop, slow down, move towards/tractor/scan the wrecks and figure out if anything interesting dropped. Just remove everything from the loot tables that isn’t a special event drop. That way you can see right away without slowing down or stopping if there’s something interesting to loot.
Remove that graphical white awfulness. Nobody wants to stare at a lightbulb. Fire whoever in CCP thought that it was a good idea to put that in.
Let’s all be honest and recognize that the West (mining) and East (hacking) gates were a gift to those players that log in first thing after downtime. Everybody else doesn’t get to participate in that part of the event so just forget about it. Don’t even bother fixing it, it’s not worth the time and effort. Focus your efforts on the only part of the event that will mean anything to 99% of people who are participating in the event - The North (combat) gate. Just try to make that nonstop fight interesting.
Also maybe a warning that alpha players shouldn’t participate? The North (combat) gate seems to be an absolute meatgrinder for alphas. CCP might at least want to give players fair warning that the event was designed to be exclusionary towards alphas.
Thanks for the transparency. This stuff can be hard to get just right on the first iteration. Pass along our thanks to all the folks on the back-end scrambling to patch bugs and make tweaks.
you can do it as alpha by just not using a BS but rather a cruiser with AB and decent resist profile towards thermal/kin (and reps ofc)
but looking at zkill quite a few omega players cant get this right so maybe you arent wrong
Forgot how to chemistry CCP? Hiemal Carboxyl Condensate would be a liquid. Hence the Condensate. So we are mining Liquid now ? I don’t remember reading that capability in my Mining Drone owners manual. I never thought I would wish for the rouge drone event to return. Why are the BS (Captains) spawning 300k out in the middle of nowhere? Turns on prop mod gets up to heat up hot pocket. Why is the BS respawn so long? I spent more in ammo then I made in loot running this site for 2 hours. What the hell is that droning sound is that from the planet? Turn it off! If I turn it off I lose the warp in sound. I am afraid my Medulla Oblongata has been permanently damaged from the white out. Good god we have a test server for a reason. Or is it only used now for testing spyware for the Chinese government?
You can’t search for Brainfreeze BPC.
@CCP_Turtlepower
This. Is. Not a gameplay!
Look on the screenshot. I (and some other players) sitting for a whole hour waiting for a BS to appear. Whole hour of nothing to do! I want to kill somebody, I want to push some buttons, but instead I sit and hypnotize the line in overview, where Mordus Centurion should appear. Do you think that this is normal?
Edit; typos.
They changed the warp bubbles because it blinded pilots and you couldn’t see anything that was happening only to create a new white out problem with a major event.
How you guys went from Blood Raiders, one of the best events you pushed out to this one is embarrassing. This needs to be the worst event ever. It is unplayable to all people that don’t log in after downtime. I’d pull it fix it and try again; or I’d just scrap it more on to the next one taking the lessons of failure of this one into consideration going forward. Maybe fix it for next year and try again then. Take the extra time to get it right.
A thousand % agree!!! Why I get blinded coming into and out of these sites is strange. And it doesn’t go away until after you warp off and land off grid. So I won’t be able to see anything I’m landing on until after I’m there.
More time needs to be spent on checking these updates and patches. Its almost like every patch there are some big issues that these guys don’t see because they are too close to their own work and see what they intended to make instead of what is really there.
Every con, but this one I’d agree with. This one is more of your opinion and what you don’t see as worth it someone else might.
In future, might I respectfully suggest working tirelessly on putting the event on test, processing the feedback therefrom, and tirelessly fixing the glaring, obvious, previously reported issues with the event before going live?
I further suggest that, since 90% of your gaming competition is also running Christmas events that actually work, that don’t annoy 90% of the players who play them while simultaneously being inaccessible to over half their players; if you wish your event to actually be played and received well by your players, that you put some thought into “What would the players enjoy?”.
As opposed to a design process that apparently starts with “How can we make it look like we are putting up an interesting event to get lots of players to play, but actually make the event completely useless and not worth playing for 3/4 of our player base?”, and goes downhill from there.
I am just guessing, of course, but I suspect that “players enjoyed our event greatly!” is a somewhat better result than “players fled to other games in droves to play better designed Christmas events”.
(Edit: So, apparently this post was flagged by “multiple members of the community” as off-topic. If the people who flag these things could let me know how Operation Permafrost feedback is off-topic in an Operation Permafrost Feedback thread, I will be happy to edit the post to reflect proper thread content guidelines.)
My suggestions to improve the game play:
Enable Tactical Camera, Tactical Overlay and Orbit Camera modes. Without them the navigation feels very limited. [updated] It’s important for the middle site. No Camera modes keeps your overview oriented to the shines horizon level by default.
NPC missiles rendering. Well, they are fly very strange.
NPC damage. For example, there are identical Cruisers, which doing significantly different damage values in range between x1 and x3 times. [updated] Their damage (sometimes x4) and rate of fire is sufficient. 3 - 4 of those Decurions can swipe even a bad tanked T2 Cruiser. It requires decent skill points to participate in this event.
Loot and rewards. A lot is noticed already.
For Permafrost event, it’s not required to emulate an Abyssal site. You can use something similar to the Perrigen Falls nebulae, for example. You can create a 2000 km in diameter comet as celestial object situated like 5000km away, for a background, like this:
All current actions like combat, hacking and gas huffing/ice mining can happen near that site. BTW, I had an idea to offer to replace the current Ice Belts with comets.
PvE in EvE was always frowned upon so one can imagine it’s kind of new grounds for devs, especially in form of short events. Looking from a wider perspective bad events may be good for future development. Provided devs learn something out of those of course. Let’s hope for the best and appreciate that they have the courage to dive in uncharted waters.
Bugs, yeah, should definitely be hunted before the release. There’s a lot of feedback coming from sisi, just noone does seem to care
I understand the love of constant pvp in Eve, BUT this statement is just plan wrong. Plenty of players love pve, some that pvp also pve, wow I know right. I been playing for years and it’s always been part of the game. Pretty sure devs have an understanding of it.
Yes, what I have seen and read about this current event does not look good. It happens. Last event seemed just fine, even dropped faction loot. Hopefully they can get a quick patch in and save it.
Have you ever thought about where your ships, modules, boosters etc. for PvP come from?
Have you checked my zkillboard?
@Shipwreck Jones
My post processing is on high and I cannot see anything.
Apparently CCP Grinch is a new hire…
