Typical Ushr’Khan. Absolutely pitiful. The Black Hand got onto the planet by being COVERT and staying silent. Not grandstanding and not putting your people in a position to break through. Of course though, it is not like Ushra’Khan could even hold anything themselves. Everything they have is given to them and then lost.
I believe their intention was the same as Kernher & Delthul’s attack against Chakaid: To send a message that they are prepared to fight.

If you had bothered turning up to the heretic blowing up freighters and saved those slaves, rather than cowering in whatever baseless system you call home, then you would have seen we tried to prevent it. Also, you have a terrible marketing intern for that poster.

Yes, stop that guy bent on killing our kin by… Shooting said ships and then scavange a field filled with people completely bent on killing her and her fleetmates thus causing even more survivors of the initial attack to be killed. The marine and freedom fighter contracts were purchased at nearly three times the going Jita average. These men well understood what they were getting into and I compensated them as such. Furthermore, they were not sacrificed. They agreed to these contracts to fight against the Empire and Kingdom that you protect by definition.
Where you defend genocide, they sought to bring justice. Where you defend slavery, they sought to spread freedom. Where you defend monsters, they sought to vanquish.
All of the marine and freedom fighter support personnel who had not taken part in the ground assault were safely evacuated and, as the Discourse reports, were rescued primarily by Matari forces.

In fairness, attempts were made to save people in the wrecks. Remote repairs were even applied to the wrecks in hope of slowing things down enough to get people out. Didn’t help.
