EVERYTHING I Learned from the CSM 18 Candidates

LOL
Not royal subjects, but subjects of the interview or questionnaire.

Thanks for your insight on your want/need/wish word choice. I don’t necessarily agree, but it’s good to see other’s viewpoints.

Again, thanks for posting the candidate responses.
It’s definitely given me something to think about.

Your both Topic has been merged in here.

The trouble is that as a bunch of experienced players, often from the vast nullsec blocs, the CSM almost by definition caters to the concerns of that level and region of play to the exclusion of all else. That is the problem nobody addresses. How can people who’ve been in the game 15-20 years and who are running or at some high tier level in 30,000 man corps still put themselves in the shoes of 1 month or 6 month or even year old players ?

It’s hard to see how there could be newer player representation on the CSM, but I feel there should be.

Now no one will see this thread
The last post in Jita Park is 19d old…
It should stay in General imho…

Sure lol, why not.

So much I couldn’t possibly list it all, the first major thing they got right for me, not long after I started playing was the removal of learning clones. That was horrid for me as a new player at the time. The extension of the skill que came soon after. A more recent change would be removing skill loss from T3C’s. With so many positive QoL changes in between. EVE is a unique and beautiful game with so much going for it is demoralizing to see the player base struggle and those left within it constantly bitching at each other over how their play style is the only “right way”.

Lets not kid ourselves, CCP do ■■■■ up, but they try and sort it.

First, The constant pushing into player groups. No, you absolutley do not need to join a player group in EVE to survive, have fun, do it “right” or last more than a week…

Not sure if you remember the introduction of teams in the industry window, you could bid for special teams that boosted your job. It was not a good mechanic and allowed for exploitation and overly unfair advantages.

Removing nullification from half the interceptors was pretty rubbish as I used them a lot. I have only left HS twice since that change and I used to go to through LS and into null for data/relics a fair bit when it worked properly. That change took away my access to a lot of New Eden just so the null blocks could have more safety to farm sites.

Letting the COSMOS stuff fall into spaghetti code drama and not sorting it all out so its at least in the agency for people to do.

The biggest thing I think they have got wrong however is their assessment of who plays EVE and why, I really don’t think they have a clue, and the voices that are constantly shouting in their ears are a misrepresentation of the player base we have, it’s not all on them though as we are genuinely so diverse it must be very hard for them to know how something they do will play out. Responsibility also falls on the silent, they need to speak up.

Lots of things that just shouldn’t be in the game so I am constantly telling myself to shut up… like T2 cloaky MTU’s that if you don’t bookmark you wont ever find again. A single use T2 Mobile Defense Depot that holds 8 anti combat probe seeker missiles that will blow up 8 combat probes that are within 4AU of your location, T2 firework launchers that shoot 10 fireworks per cycle, passenger transport so you could carry other players in a touring ship to see the sights of New Eden… As I mentioned in a recent post on Mikes CSM campaign, Id like to see a SOE fax, a triglavian mining barge, a dedicated fast racing frigate, other silly things like being able to have more input on the NPC corp your in, more for the players that are not interested in joining any one group but are still highly social and last but not least, being able to get out your ship again.

Skill extractors/injectors, unlimited alts, abusive play styles, bots. The rule about not having capitals in HS, I get it and understand why, but I still deep down wanna use a Nyx to run missions.

The ability to remain autonamous, unaffiliated, footloose and fancy-free.

Mandatory pvp, I’m not talking about market pvp or competing over sites. Forced. Able only to only shoot other players or get shot by them. Like COD, spawn die, spawn die, spawn die. As an older peaceful player I would always only be the victim in that scenario as I have no desire whatsoever to be aggressive.

As I hve mentioned many times in many places, I would like CCP to get hold of the old Westwood code for Dune 2000/C&C and make PI a RTS mini game. I see that as the only sensible solution to this matter.

No Idea on this sorry, never been in a player corp and never will be. I like to think that CCP are always working on iterating the UI, photon a recent example and with EVE nothing is static, it might appear that way but behind the scenes dev’s, the tech, are always moving forward and we often don’t get to see the fruition of these efforts for years. There is an over representation on the CSM for large null sec groups and they are the ones that have to deal with that UI on a scale I cant even imagine. I think they are more than capable of advising CCP on that over me a humble HS care bear that is still happy in a NPC corp.

You’ve not included my responses, were they not good enough? Please let me know if not and I hope I can answer them better for you.

This is the entire format for which I am running my campaign on. I am not answering for a major null block group. I am a High Sec CSM candidate. I’m running for the little guy, the High Sec industrialist. I have no major null backer in this fight.

You must not know @Mike_Azariah and what he does. Or represents

Thanks for the thoughtful questions!

I guess the problem is that because of the limitations on posting a topic (3000 words or something) I had to copy paste the last section of the replies into the first comment along with the remaining @ names (Of which there is a limit of ten). Now when I visit the link that appears in my menu advising me of the changes you’ve made, merging, and relocating, the first comment which is half of the candidates responses is now missing for me…

The first post I made was really about generating some awareness of what I was hoping to do, which was learn more about the candidates who pages nobody posts on., and giving some water and sunshine to the lesser visited candidates. You’ll see that the well known candidates get more activity by default which pushes their posts higher automatically.

And the second post was about adding some weight to the responses by consolidating them together into one big comparative post. I did this because I had received criticism that my questions weren’t important and that nobody would read them. I knew that if you looked at all the answers together you would see that they were important and worth taking seriously.

I’m not sure that the changes you made really reflect my intentions and i’m afraid that the work that I did to clarify my efforts has now been made confusing and muddled once again…

Thanks I guess?

If I have missed you @Rico_Shikkoken know that it is only because the way that the posts are displayed on the forum page makes it extremely difficult to know who all the candidates are even. So I had like twenty tabs open copying and pasting the replies into one big post. It’s possible I either did not open your replies to begin with, or I accidentally closed your tab. I will try to add your reply to the group however @ISD_Traindriver as merged everything together and moved it and now it appears all over the place for me.

I’m getting screwed too, we have that in common. I’ll see what I can do.

I think it is reasonable to assume some people in the null-block still care about the discussion and people outside their group.

I understood that you didn’t mean royal subjects (lol), but that you meant subjects of the questionnaire.

I meant to impart the understanding that I did not see them as subjects of the questionnaire.

I just really wanted to find out who the quiet candidates were.

Done.

Those were dark days

This is possibly the most appropriate answer to the question that I’ve received so far,

WOW! Awesome, the insidious Ordos!!!

Thanks for your reply, it was an awesome read, kind of wish you were running for CSM Campaigns

He isn’t running this year sadly but @Steve_Ronuken was also a HS non afiliated 3rd party dude.

This year we also have @DutchGunner as well as @Mike_Azariah as 2 very solid choices for HS, casual newbro representation.

I strongly urge people to vote for them if they represent your area of game play or concerns as there is a lot of null sec as well as anti HS candidates this year.

Not only would I probably get less than 20 votes I would also be taking those 20 votes from someone like Mike or Dutch and it gets so close for the independent candidates they need every one.

Anyway, Great effort, lets hope we get a good cross section of the player base on CSM this year eh.

I am also running as a HS candidate. I am representing the people of HS also. The industrialists and new bros alike.

Thank you for that

That’s why I ran last year as a 2 year old Eve player and again this year at 3.5 years. I’ve built an entire community catering to new players to get them connected, undocked and into fleets. We’re at an average of 34 fleets a month and according to the feedback form, the average in game age is between 2 weeks and 3 months. Not a bad result I think.

Sometimes it takes a new player to become the solution to new player problems.
