Excess Ore after Processing

What are you supposed to do with it? Can you collect it? Do you just need to trash it? Thank you.

processing as in at the station? you can sell whatever didn’t get reprocessed. almost anything can be sold on the market

Thanks. It’s just annoying to have so much random extra stuff.

likewise you could just hold on to it, until you get more so that when you get 100 you can reprocess those as well.

get a station container and put leftover reprocessing materials in it… so over time you can get rid of it by reprocessing…

Never process the ore unless it is required by the mission. You are better to sell the raw ore at market and buy the minerals you need from the sale.

Example;
Plagioclase sells at 40 per rock, 10,000 rocks sold in market is 400,000 ISK
Plagioclase processed 175 tritanium and 70 mexallon per 100 rocks, LESS the common 50% lost from processing.
10,000 / 100 x 175 x 0.5 = 8,750 tritanium value 39,500 ISK
10,000 / 100 x 70 x 0.5 = 3,500 mexallon value 192,500 ISK

Anything less than 100 rocks cannot be processed.

Skills for reprocessing can make a difference, as well as standings in station reducing cost to reprocess

Addendum: Unless you have damn good reprocessing skills.

that was my point above lol.

Understood mine more rocks to cover the loss from reprocessing!

Interesting. Thanks.

its less than that if you have the right skills as previously mentioned by me and Your EX.
Reprocessing, Reprocessing Efficiency, Simple Ore Reprocessing will reduce that from 50%

Train to t2 mining crystals for your ore group, then you’ll have the starting skills to reprocess your own ore.

Standings with the corporation that owns the station can reduce the cost to reprocess as well… 6.50 modified, it costs nothing to reprocess.

Does it make sense to have a Porpoise around for processing/compressing?

porpoise cannot reprocess

oh, here are two images, exactly of plagioclase from eve uni, with maxed skills, and with 6.50 standings reducing cost to zero

Porpoise can only compress asteroid ore and gas. If you’re wanting to compress ice and moon ore, you’ll need an Orca.

Compressing just means you move more?

If you have max reprocessing skills, the 4% implant, and using a rigged refinery, you’ll find that the reprocessed value far exceeds that of the raw ore, though the downside is a very, very large increase in material volume.

Compression is 100:1 ratio. For example, a full Venture load of ore is 5,000 m3. That will compress down to 50 m3. The ore bay of the Venture will hold the compressed equivalent of 500,000 m3 of ore.

… and can make a packed Venture or Miasmos awfully expensive on the killboard
