Extension for the people who wasted days in Derelik looking for nonexistent event sites?

Naughty naughty, CCP

Why’d you turn off Derelik without notice? You going to make a habit out of this? Should we expect other regions to “turn off”?

Not a chance any extension will be implemented due to that. You have the freedom to move to other areas in search of event sites. Nobody forced you to stay only in Derelik.

Still, it sucks to live in Derelik…

Just delete Derelik already…

That’s like saying servers stop spawning asteroid belts, combat sites and exploration sites for 3 days, but you have the freedom to play other games. So CCP won’t be compensating with any free time or SP.

It’s not about being forced to stay. It’s that people did not know Derelik was fubar and thought the whole event was fubar. Why would anyone think CCP would single out one region to “turn off” without warning? People are leaving Derelik now if they want to do it because two and two are being put together on the forum, but there are those who gave up on it thinking the site spawn rates were adjusted to simply to be that terrible. So time was wasted scanning for something that did not exist or time was lost for those who gave up. CCP messed up. That is on them.

Yeah randomly turning off a region of play without informing the playerbase is very toxic on part of CCP, I just can’t imagine their reasoning.

These events are always hit and miss in terms of site availability. It’s rare that CCP makes any changes, but on the (rare) occasion that they do - the events are almost over. I think the only reason we saw (some) regular combat site increases in high-sec was because there was a second phase to this event - which I don’t think many were expecting.

The only times I’ve ever seen an extension to an event are when it was announced at the last minute, players didn’t find out about it until a few days in and were obviously upset over the fact they couldn’t login to retrieve all the rewards (or at least the juicy stuff).

As someone who lives in Derelik, it took me and many others a couple of days to realize that this was a legitimate issue, rather than just a streak of bad luck with finding signatures. During that time, we all struggled to make progress, unable to understand why things weren’t working as expected. To complete my event points, I had to hop to other low-sec and null regions. Frustratingly, I’ve submitted both a bug report (which I expect to go unanswered) and a customer service report, but both have remained unresolved. It’s particularly disheartening going into the weekend without any response or clarification. What adds to the frustration is the dismissive attitude I’ve encountered from some people, who simply say, “Nobody forced you to stay only in Derelik.” That kind of response is not only unhelpful, but also reflects a poor attitude toward the real issues players are facing.

I feel for you. I’ve made the same point with respect to players who’ve taken up residence in a certain region and due to time constraints can’t spend what little time they have off on a glorified Easter Egg hunt.

This was apparently designed as a 2-part event - but if you didn’t have the foresight to bank extra points you were relegated to running aspects of it all over again.

I’m not dismissive of people who live in Derelik nor of the fact that this was a real issue affecting players who live there. Excluding a whole region from the event is strange and should be acknowledged on CCP’s part whether it was done in error or intentionally.

What I was getting at was that CCP will never give any extension for this, it’s obvious. Especially since there are easy and fast ways to go around the issue – travel to a different region. They have been less accommodating for far more significant problems.

I move through at least 3 different regions of space every time I am on, and most of the time more. So, I understand that it was frustrating that your region experienced exclusion, but it’s hardly something that can’t be got around. Maybe to some that’s dismissive, but I really think a problem that can be solved with a 5-10-minute warping around is just a minor annoyance.

You can’t necessarily get around the lost time. Just because some people have no job or life outside of EVE doesn’t mean everyone can spend hours and hours every day. Some people can only play for a limited amount of time and 3-4 days lost may be insurmountable for them to make up giving their schedule. Leaving Derelik now won’t make any difference if they end up needing those lost 3-4 days to complete it.

Personally, I’m retired. I got particularly lucky in Devoid with a streak of consecutive systems that all had sites with hardly no competition and finished far earlier than expected. And on the two occasions that someone else showed up in a site they were respectful and left. But my anecdotal experience is not necessarily everyone else’s.

Hm. Not sure one needs hours and hours to travel to a neighboring region, but fine, I’ll leave it at that.

That’s a rarity in EVE. I personally never contest sites. If somebody got there before me, I’ll go and find another one. But that’s me.

Glad to hear you found your sites.

CCP sent out a new survey today. It did NOT include anything pertaining to events. It did ask about my current happiness and enjoyment level as a capsuleer, which I rated at 0 out of 5.

Radio silence on my support ticket. I would never expect an extension, but would have expected a response to the ticket by this point..

A lot of the support is outsourced, so not entirely surprising…

As someone who was affected by this on multiple characters, it was annoying but not event-ruining. It took about a couple of hours to realize the sites weren’t spawning at all, and beyond that it just added about 15 minutes of travel time to my “solo farming” days.

I am annoyed with the silence from CCP on the issue (unless I missed an announcement in some odd place?), since it was brought up in multiple threads and people submitted tickets over it. Even a quick “this is intentional and we’re not changing it” or “this is a glitch, but we aren’t rushing to fix it since this is a short-term event and we have other stuff to do” would’ve been nice and would’ve made it easier to plan.

Making “branching” decisions in the dark based on whether something is a bug and, if so, whether it is going to be fixed does suck, but it’s generally best to plan for worst reasonable cases.

In this game, if you run into some issue, always consider it to be bug first. Or intended bug - ie. bug they know about but keeping in game deliberately for a purpose.

And for someone to conclude the event was completely bugged and simply stop trying altogether. I wouldn’t say a few hours is enough to time to make such a conclusion though. Sometimes you’re just unlucky.
