Did you read what I wrote like at all? Having 3-4 people mine what 3-4 people in 3 barges and an orca would normally mine but altogether in only ONE ship all together coordinated is somehow OP? How you figure this?
Iād support faction barges if they had less yield than exhumers in exchange for something actually interesting, like better drone damage or more tank. EvE doesnāt need āmoar yieldā specialty barges.
I agree. Itās kind of a moot point really when it comes to mining yield. Iām satisfied enough as it is with just the Orca/Hulk combo. No need for more yield for me. If I had gotten into the Rorqual I would have ended up treating it like a second job which is something I donāt like. Hard enough as it is maintaining Boeing 767s for an airline. Donāt want to compound that difficulty by maintaining a corp-wide mining fleet in low/null sec.
I would say something like better drone bay capacity or drone bandwidth.
Yes!!
Iād support faction barges as just e-peen stuff. Why should there be a material advantage to everything?
Iāve owned 3 Japanese sports cars, currently I drive a crappy Peugeot, the speed limit here is 120kph both types of cars can reach that speed but one is for ego and one is for cost reduction, people driving faction barges would do so for the most insignificant reasons imaginable and thatās OK just donāt pretend it isnāt what it is.
YES ! We basically need more mining ships, there is no real variations !
More models ! i <3 spaceships
No, we donāt need more mining enhancements that promote more AFK harvesting. We need active gameplay. Mining ships need more defensive options. Some ideas that come to mind are a utility high slot, increased Drone BW and increased drone bays. The utility high slot could be a repper for drones, neutralizer, or Drone link extender.
A single cruiser engaging a single Skiff simply points it, uses Warriors to defang then grinds it down.
I would argue that the PvP player gets a double bonus against industry prey.
- Most cruisers get a 2x combat bonus. a.) Weapons, b.)Drone damage
- Their industrial prey most often sits very near a convenient default warp in. Belts and Gates
If we cannot get ship enhancements, we need the sig belts back so the PvP player is required to scan down industry target(s) they wish to pursue.
Or miners could, you know, just pay attention, fit some tank, and donāt be stupid enough to sit there and mine at the warp-inā¦
None of which changes how interesting the gameplay is. Tank barely matters outside of highsec gank situations. Because itās simply not enough since itās passive. Or low levels of active only due to the limited slots.
Industrials/Miners getting more PG/CPU and slots to be able to fit an equal number of modules to comparable sized combat ships as well as the capacity for a few built in weapons of appropriate size would actually promote a far more active style of gameplay. And would allow things such as the concord timer being made longer (yes longer) to make a gank more of a fight and less of a blink and you missed it event.
The gankers will simply bring more ships if the timer is shortened. Just fly a well-tanked Skiff and you will have little or no problem from gankers, at least in high secā¦
Train reading to at least 1. I said LONGER.
Sorry, thatās what I meant. It doesnāt matter either way. A single mining ship is no match for 10, 20, or however many ships they decide to bringā¦
The problem is that many players simply donāt want to suck it up and fly a tanked Skiff, instead choosing to get popped on a daily basis in a paper thin barge fit for yield and not tank. So, these geniuses lose 300+ million every single time their Mack or Hulk is popped instead of sacrificing a little yield and flying a brick tanked Skiff. You will rarely ever see a Skiff ganked in high sec, and when you do, you will notice that it was either under-tanked, fit for yield, or they had bling modules installedā¦
But it does matter. If the timer is longer they donāt need to bring 10 ships to beat you before concord arrives. And ganking is about efficiency. So if they think they can get away with only 3 they will bring only 3.
Howeverā¦ a longer timer plus industrials getting more active fittings & weapons means that there are a lot more variables at play in the equation, which also means that itās not a simple ācan my catalysts do enough damageā but also a āwhat skills do they have in guns, do I have enough tank to avoid losing ships therefore losing damage, what if they neut me outā etc. Because there is enough time to do all of these things, while a current gank itās over in 15 seconds and it takes a few seconds to get going on any of these activities meaning unless you have a specialised escort ship, which is a joke having someone guard you for 100 hours at no effective pay for maybe 5 seconds of action, you arenāt going to achieve anything.
The whole āfly a skiffā thing is just about making them go somewhere easier, but you lose the isk game no matter what you fly in a gank, and itās also not a fun experience. While a heart pounding 2 minute fight where you have some viable counter plays, get to shoot back, maybe even kill one yourself in return, thatās the sort of fight people remember and love. Do I expect 90% of the time gankers to still win, of course I do. But it makes the actual experience of being ganked more interesting and involved. Rather than decided before any action happens and then you blink and the action is done.
Thatās slightly off topic from faction stuff however, and as above Iām not in favour of faction barges, but of faction equipment which is a side grade for mining but adds other flavour.
Lol. I do it for shits and giggles in a battlecruiser.
Timer means nothing even if you are using a small gang. You simply call concord to another location on an alt.
Is the reason for this so Alphas can use them? If so, then no.
