I want to raise awareness about a persistent and frustrating issue with the Faction Warfare (FW) enlistment UI, which has already been mentioned in other threads - but seemingly without any dev acknowledgment or resolution.
The Problem
When trying to enlist in FW for the Amarr Empire, the UI says:
“Your standings with this and allied factions are too low. They need to be 0.0 or above.”
As shown in this screenshot and my support ticket, my standing with Amarr is exactly 0.0, yet I am blocked from enlisting. The enlist button is greyed out, and the tooltip still claims my standings are too low.
So either:
The requirement is actually “above 0.0”, not “0.0 or above” - meaning the UI is incorrect and misleading.
Or there’s a bug in how the game interprets 0.0 standings.
Why This Matters
I, like many others, spent hours grinding missions and storylines to reach that 0.0 threshold. This isn’t a quick or easy process. The UI led me to believe that reaching 0.0 would unlock enlistment - which it did not. That’s:
Wasted time and effort
Wasted ISK and in-game resources
Frustration caused by misleading information
Multiple players have reported the same issue in the forums, but there’s been no official response or fix, and that’s the part that stings the most.
Devs, Please…
Clarify the true standing requirement (is it >= 0.0 or > 0.0?)
Fix the tooltip/UI so others don’t repeat the same mistake
Consider revisiting the design choice if 0.0 isn’t good enough - especially when 0.0 is technically not negative
Players invest real effort into EVE’s progression systems. At minimum, they deserve accurate in-game info to make informed decisions.
Thanks for reading, and I encourage others who’ve run into this to share their experience here. Let’s make some noise so this gets addressed.
Thank you for trying to help but that’s the point, my base standings are -2.5, while the UI shows my regular standings as 0.0 which should be sufficient; it doesn’t need to be above 0.0.
I have done all epic arcs that I can, I have grinded so many missions for over a week, and all came down to this realization, that things are not as the UI says they are. Because the use does not say your “Base Standings” must be 0.0, it only says that your standing must be.
The UI always shows your modified standings with social skills. In order to see your base standing without social skills, you have to mouse over the faction or corp icon.
I didn’t even know that base standings exist, because the faction warfare UI never mentions them, that’s the whole problem (the faction warfare standings requirement is missleading)
Thank you for trying to help again, I honestly apreciate it.
But I really don’t think EVE players should go through the experience of bad UI design as I did. This should stop… as I have seen after I got the issue, there are so many forums posts about this for years… but no action is taken.
Not a rounding error. You have to be at BASE 0.0 standing or above. Derived standings don’t count. He is at 0.0 derived, but his base standing is still -2.5
Have you done the SoE arc recently? You can get your free standings bump at the end of that, still won’t put you all the way over (i myself am currently working Amarr up from a -5).
I’ll try it again. If it still won’t talk to me I guess I’ll have to file a ticket. I now have 9.91 base/9.93 modified. If it still won’t, then it’s bugged.
Yeah I found out the same today for Interbus L3 distro missions. They are borked. They only give you a single mission, then won’t talk to you again. Filed a ticket and they said they would “get back to me on it”…
