Hey Capsuleers,
I’ve been thinking about how much tech has evolved recently—especially with AI and voice recognition—and I wanted to throw out an idea that could really elevate immersion in EVE.
What if we had voice command support built into the game?
I’m not talking about gimmicky features, but practical, in-combat and navigation-focused commands that would let you feel more like a ship commander. Imagine being able to say things like:
-
“Shields up”
-
“Lock nearest target”
-
“Fire when ready”
-
“Warp to the next star system”
-
“Align to station”
-
“Launch drones”
Instead of just clicking through menus, you’d be issuing orders—like an actual fleet commander or capsuleer interfacing with your ship’s AI.
With how far AI voice tech has come in recent years, this feels more viable than ever. It could:
-
Improve accessibility
-
Speed up reactions in combat
-
Add a whole new layer of immersion
-
Open up interesting integrations with existing overview and command systems
Obviously, there would need to be safeguards (confirmation prompts, customization, push-to-talk, etc.), but even as an optional feature, it could be a huge step forward.
Curious what others think—would you use something like this, or do you see it as unnecessary complexity?
