I disagree with OP. I never buy drones. I haven’t in 4 years of playing. I just retrieve them from careless players.
I picked up two more today.
Asking the game to protect you from your own mistakes isn’t a legitimate complaint; it’s a denial of the very design EVE is built on a hostile world where survival is earned, not granted.

I have been playing off and on since 2009. Just the other day I forgot my drones, no warning popped up. I don’t recall ever seeing this or disabling it. Do you happen to know off hand where the enable/disable option is in the settings? I need to turn this on lmao
Edit: I scoured the settings after asking this (so as not to be asking a question i could answer myself) and still had no luck finding it

At the time of the warning there is one BIG factor that comes into play: LAG
Those with an NO ntermittent-bad LAG, will see the warning and react in time.
Those WITH the above, will see the warning, TRY to react and it’s a 50-50% chance
Sometime pressing the JUMP button works immediately, others your ship just sit at the gate and you have to press JUMP button again. So Shift+Space to stop your Ship from an initiated JUMP BEYOND 2.5Km from the Gate just DO NOT WORK.
Alas, wasting a slot for a module for what should be a simple tick in the DRONE settings overlay UI? We are talking about adding back a tick box in the Drone overlay UI that when the drone out Alarm ring, it just say:
A: Stop my ship from jumping without drone in
B: Ignore all warnings
It WAS in the Drone Overlay Setting UI.

Do you really want your ship to be stuck, unresponsive and dying just because your drones are still out?
Pay attention and call your drones back in tine, or buy some new drones when you lose them. Most ships have a large drome bay for spares for a reason.
Unless you’re using massively overpiced drones like Geckos in a cheap ship, your ship is likely worth significantly more than some disposable drones.
This means that any feature that automatically chooses your drone’s safety over the safety of your ship is a trap.
If the game wants to help newbies who, like all of us did, accidentally warp away leaving their drones behind, it’s better to keep the status quo with only a warning and let them lose some drones until they learn, rather than letting those new players lose ships instead.

Yeah I found it eventually. I was looking in the client/game settings rather than in the drone window.
Abyss fast frigs, some are so fast that not even a meta web and fast small autocannons can shoot them down. If you lost your only 2, or 5, small drones, then YOU’Re D3AD|!!!
It never happened AND IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, that I misclick on an ABYSS GATE to GET OUT
and DIE BC of DRONES STILL OUT… GATES WONT OPEN UNTILL ROOM is CLEAR….
