Well, just for giggles, here’s a run I managed to record of my Eastern route, without bridges! Using just pod destruction and jump clone and a trusty Leopard, along with help from a beautiful Dramiel.
Strangely, this felt like one of my better ones during the run, but it ended up being about 10-15 seconds shorter than my best. I’m guessing because it was a Saturday night, latency and server load must have simply played a part. (There were a few extra pauses while using the UI though, which could have done that too).
I blurred out a few locations just in case people want their privacy or something. I also accidentally clicked my skill sheet at one point so I blurred that. No peeking!
You’ll also notice I need to make my Overview pretty again. It’s so basic and boring right now lol…
Edit: And I wish I had gotten a recording of the Northern route I actually placed on, but forgot to start it before my run. It’s entirely possible it would have filled up my hard drive though, being twice as long, so maybe that worked out for the best lol…
Regarding JC/DC/Cynos I can say that maybe it seems kind of “unfair”, but there are rules, and I can’t see how these are breaking em. I cannot afford this stuff, so I hate it too, but it was a pleasure to see how these guys did it.
I support the idea of two types of race: Speed, like we saw just now, and Endurance — no cynos, no recloning/death — for more straightforward persons, like myself.
Also I have to say … I just about still finished in the top 10 and didn’t use any Cynos - just liberal use JC/DC and an alt in a catalyst to pod myself on some waypoints - and didn’t spend more than 100m total on implants, so think the event was still reasonably accessible to people not willing to spend billions.
Getting into the top 5 definitely required blops cynos at least, however.
You know the spirits of this event is still around you when your home wh spawns a HS straight to Postouvin and you have a hs down the chain 6 from harroule
God that would give me options if this happened for real during the event.
It doesn’t matter to me what they do for a next time, I won’t even bother reading the rules, huge let down, way to manage expectations ccp. Might have use the word clone or jump anywhere in the rules.
You obviously didn’t read the rules this time either, literally said anything goes
fun fact: you could have done every route in under 10 mins each without even having to take a gate, but no one realized it or set it up until there were only a few days left
I did read the rules. They didn’t say anything about any kind of teleportation, just like you quoted.
Eve is a big game, I figured them meant gate camps and such to stop others, not skipping racing entirely and teleporting around.
Fun fact, no matter how you defend it, I’m never going to think this event wasn’t a garbage waste of my time, because ccp could have been more clear about the rules.
