Federation Grand Prix Time Trials Contest YC123

Not necessarily. Maybe the dumbest possible way to do it was in something that warps as slowly as possible.

was thinking about doing the entire thing with this abomination for the lulz, but since there was that piece of 0.0 that would have been a very pointless throwaway of isk ^^

I was going to use a sin cus it can get sub 2s align time with the cloak trick, iirc MJDs work through bubbles so you just warp via an offset bookmark to 100 at the gate and mjd in

Thanks everyone for participating. Congratulations to the winners!

It was hard to find all the tricks to beat the best times.
Nice but stressful event. More please :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, good stuff. Thanks for confirming my June = Fed Day memories aren’t fabricated. ;D

The Blood Raiders Halloween, Angel Valentine’s Day, and Guristas Easter (Gureaster!) events are to me the bedrock of EVE’s holiday-related events (I’d mention the winter events as well but they’ve varied from Mordu to Serp to whatever else over the years, not as consistent).

Beyond those, the other 9 months of the year are wide open for experimentation and/or new stuff out of the blue and/or iteration on similar themes from previous years. There’s been a few “off” events in the past couple years but also some really fun ones, so looking forward to what your event team comes up with next. o7

I’m sorry sir but Quafe are not currently hiring. I’ll be in contact to find out which account you would like the Omega added to.

Hey Everyone!

Now that the event is over, I just wanted to thank the devs and @CCP_Convict for all the work they put in to create it, and for updating scores and gathering our feedback etc.

This whole event has been a gloriously satisfying waste of both ISK and ships: I had an absolute blast!

As a somewhat-recently returning player, this event forced me out of my comfort zone in a lot of positive ways. I got to experience Eve content I hadn’t seen in a long time as well as a lot of new and different things I had never tried out before. I’m pretty sure lots of players who enjoy Low Sec content have been just thrilled at the chance to chase us all around and blow us up! :stuck_out_tongue: (Or at least for the first week or so).

Most of the landmarks on the list I had never seen, or even knew about, and visiting some ended up being a very emotional experience for me. I paused at the Fallen Capsuleer Monument, spending several minutes just reading through tears, not only about how this game affects each of us even in our real lives, but also at the friendship and comradery we inevitably experience with each other because of it.

In terms of the Leaderboards and Scoring, as others have said, it would be nice in the future to see more ship- or racing-type restrictions within multiple categories (but obviously keeping the unrestricted/anything-goes category overall to reward creativity).

As for me personally, I don’t have access to any alts or jump-capable ships, and so all of my runs just took advantage of clone manipulation, moderately pricey (at least for me!) implants, and good old-fashioned terrifying gate-to-gate warps! :stuck_out_tongue:

I really hope that didn’t come across as braggy or something! It’s just to illustrate that while it IS possible to come close, it’s obviously difficult-to-impossible to compete at the same level without access to those extra things. And it would be nice in the future if some of those could be separated into different divisions or something for players at various skill levels to compete in.

On the other hand, because this is Eve, it’s also incredibly hard to isolate things like Wealth, Player Skill, Character Skill Level, Geography, and other aspects just on their own, since everything is so deeply tied together in this game!

Anyway, I just wanted to share my thoughts and say thanks, as well as CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners!! You all made this really fun for me as well, just watching you vie for positions and sneak times in overnight and such. :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Friendship Week,
Kalanie

Yes, please make Niarja a waypoint next time :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel like J Space might be a bit too much. Unless you have a dedicated alliance or access to a big WH Mapper i think it will be next to impossible for a single pilot to find a certain J System. Not to mention in like ~1 week. Pochven does seem more reasonable in that case.

My not enough run on North used a connection direct HS to postouvin tho  so with wh,s it’s a matter of luck of course.

there are certain ways to get into whs without needing to scan them down :stuck_out_tongue:

I am aware, but it would disqualify most of the casual participants.

not if you put a waypoint in the systems where they appear

Yeah something like that would only be for a special and optional “advanced” course. There’s also a lot of variety in the difficulty you can get out of a J-space waypoint for a course like that. The “easier” option would be Thera. The “OH GOD WHY” option would be to pick a random uninhabited C2 (I wouldn’t actually do that, but it would be funny).

I did try the “doing it wrong” challenge.

It did not end well.

I was discussing this with Drake a while after his final run and it seemed interesting. Having waypoints you visit like this lends itself very quickly to optimising the best strategy - placing death clones and titans/blops in the right places, and having people to pod you. If there were to be more inspiration taken from real life races, it could be harder to see what the dominant strategy should be.

One example I thought up was one of the waypoints could have some beacons and targets like that shooty bit in the skiing race in the olympics. You land in deadspace and have to sub-warp get in range of one of the beacons, then once you’ve done that you have to deal a certain amount of damage to a target 120k away, then another beacon, then another target. Do you do that in a rail hyperion for the ability to womp it from the beacons? Heavy missile Tengu so it can be burning to the next beacon while the missiles are in flight, but at the cost of having to burn towards the target a bit? And so forth.
