Even there it took a while to register and I was close on warping to the beacon but luckily it registered.
There were some beacons though where this was not possible, due to proximity to the sun.
Asakai was one of them if i remember correctly. Due to the distance to the sun being 0km at that beacon you couldn’t warp to bookmarks on the grid or open a cyno there.
added east route link to my other post, its not that interesting considering its now the 4th fastest but the 1st min is where youll see why i had to edit it
From me no nice videos, as the capture software I could find didn’t like my multi-monitor setup. I tried it on the second timed and my first serious run, and it would switch from screen to screen and even gave me seizures from the flickering. As my time was limited I gave up on the recording, but I have the routes on Dotlan (thanks @wollari ) which was used for route planning together with some other programs.
Northern route will follow in a next post as apparently I’m a new user
It will be a lesson for the reader, to see what techniques were used.
I really enjoyed the event and would like to thank @CCP_Convict and CCP for organizing, as it allowed me to use things I had only seen or heard about, for myself.
Also thanks to the other competitors for the competition. It took some time to warm up but I think in the end everyone gave their best effort.
maybe, but IIRC the past grand prix events have been in June… I thought June was when Federation Day was… and thus the Federation Grand Prix was always in June. But… then this year happened, so… who knows.
Guess they felt they needed a filler between February’s Angel Valentine’s Day event and late March/early April’s Guristas Easter event.
Although I can’t promise anything a year ahead of time (game development is a chaotic process), we do hope to bring the Grand Prix back next year in its more traditional time slot in June. The events team is working to build a set of events all across the calendar that we can iterate on each year to improve things and keep them fresh, so we’ll be taking the feedback from this thread into account for changes to next year’s version of the event.
Congrats to the top 3 for the podium places and especially to @Jack_Alle for the one second on the eastern route and bumping me off.
Congrats and thanks to all other contestants as well for the racing, I saw many of you in local while preparing my runs, with all different type of ships and techniques which gave me ideas and had me make changes to my runs.
These delayed timings made it exiting till the end. Kept on refreshing this thread while traveling irl.
Enjoy your winnings and see you next year hopefully
@Jack_Alle with that cheeky last second snipe into 2nd place
Congrats to all was a fun event, @CCP_Convict if possible in Lieu of (or in addition to, im not picky :P) the 12 months omega I request that I can be a super special snowflake and be the only capsuleer to join the quafe corp in game
Also if/when the grand prix makes a return make sure to throw all of us DMs for input, i’ll bet we all have ideas on how to improve on it next time, make it more fair and remove 1 kinda broken exploit luckily none of us resorted to using where you can get sub 10 mins on every route.
I’d also want to design an absolutely brutal run which goes into both Pochven, J space and back for those who truly want to feel pain
I do wonder how many people were actually able to complete the doing it wrong laps since the timer was still pretty aggressive. It killed my idea of doing the whole think in a JF (since I used it for 2 lowsec jump skips). You needed something capable of warping at a decent clip.
