Federation Grand Prix Time Trials Contest YC123

Rules:

  • Capsuleers are free to be as creative or as devious as they wish. If you come up with some sneaky way to shave off some precious seconds (or entire jumps) then go for it!

So yea, in this race, short cuts were allowed. It’s still totally a race, but it’s more like orienteering where where route planning is part of the competition, than running a track.

Still ■■■■ rules. Hope we get a real race next year.

I knew there would be at least one person who would spend billions on this event, which is why I didn’t tryhard and only did it once.

the 1st place prize is worth roughly 15 billion isk and you thought only ONE person would invest into trying to get it? bruh

I’m all for removing skips that not all players can get though, so FNA skip, remote clone skip, infinite boosters and infinite deathclone skip need to be addressed

But maybe next year we can have another kind of event? Personally I think I’d like it if the rules changed a bit year-to-year so it would always have something new in it. I don’t particularly like solved-problem gameplay, and having to adapt and adjust your tactics to new situations is a true measure of skill.

“If I don’t try, then people can’t laugh at my pitiful attempts and failures!”

Tomorrow’s final standings will certainly be interesting

Leaderboards updated. Only 1 hour to go in the Federation Grand Prix event!

Just a reminder to the previous reminders - the final official leaderboards won’t be known until tomorrow.

Now that the 11:00 deadline has come and gone and no more runs can be submitted - I made a recorded run at the Eastern leaderboard last night USTZ after my calculations last weekend showed a sub 14 minute time was very achieveable and I wanted to prevent a clean sweep by @Drake_Iddon because this is Eve after all :stuck_out_tongue: Congrats to @Larethyl_Seshin though who has edged me out and derailed my attempt to “steal” the top spot by ~25 seconds.

Yes, this means my run was ~13:20 +/- 5secs (depending on when the internal start/stop time goes versus the in game GUI displaying the start and stop graphics changing). I used a jc, dc, yearly remote dc, and 2 JF jumps to achieve my time. If I’d been paying a little more attention or Invested more isk into implants (I only used the event warp boosters, and 3 x 10% warp speed implants for ~75mill ISK total burned) maybe there was a chance at #1 - c’est la vie!

Current Overall standings as of @CCP_Convict’s daily update are as follows:

Current Standings

If nobody else came out of the woodwork after 0:00 today - I would project final event standings after the last update tomorrow to be:

Estimated Standings

Congrats to everyone who participated - my corpmate @Actanis (who was previously on the leaderboards before the real eve-optimizations occurred) got me interested in this event and speaking just for myself - my 13.5 minute run required ~8 hours of prep work for the Eastern route. The amount of time, effort and ISK invested for the Northern and Southern routes is likely quite staggering in comparison.

See you all next year (please CCP do this again) and hopefully with more time on my hands I’ll be able to be more competitive than just 1 lap.

Jack Alle Also beat my east time just after midnight but i think was 10 seconds short of Larethyl, so that would put me in 4th

I didnt use the remote JC for the east route and my cyno skip was pretty poor because i missed a larger skip when calculating jump ranges

by my calcs the final board would look something like this:

Rank Name Points
1 Drake Iddon 65
2 Larethyl Seshin 55
3 Lsund Ame 48
3 Jack Alle 48
5 Alex z1 27
6 Elsebeth Rhiannon 24
7 xa666 23
8 Dread Pirate Rodgers 18
9 Romon Inaken 16
10 Stephane Turcotte 12

Jack and Lsund both have a 4th, 3rd and 2nd place so they are actually fully tied, Stephane had a 5th place while Ashanti only did a 7th and 9th, so I’m assuming Steph wins on tie breaker for 10th place

I also did another run this morning that should make #9 or #10 on the southern route though, so I think we’ll see what other runs come in tomorrow.

so mr drake iddon when are we going to see your racing video because the contest has now finished

uploading them at the moment

Here’s my Eastern route run. Run starts around 3:05 - ends around 16:25. Appears to be a candidate for 3rd place behind Larethyl and Jack.

Best,
-DPR

Nah, my time is worth more in other areas where I am guaranteed to make ISK instead of wasting my time trying to make it.

You do you mate, if you don’t enjoy it then thats fine but coming to complain about it after saying you didnt put any effort into it is just a little bit sad

u gotta skate

Lost about a minute on my northern run because i warped to a bookmark and not a fleet member.
That aside, was a fun event over all.

huh you were able to jump directly onto the grids to get the next waypoint, when i did that it wouldnt do it until i warped off and back to it, that saves easily 20-40 seconds over what i was doing
