I would like to create a tool that suggests fittings, based on some parameters like
shiptype, long- or shortrange, EHP needed etc.
I am well aware that there is pyfa. But i think, for newbros it might be a bit too difficult to use.
As they do not have an idea what they are looking for.
My question is, how do i get access to ingame data?
And there is ESI not really sure where a good place to start with that pile of s… would be, but here is one spot to try: Welcome - EVE Developer Documentation
I like the in-game fitting window, and in conjunction with the Compare Tool and Info window, it’s all I need to fit any ship I like and it’s a good thing cause I don’t like going off-game if I don’t have to.
The issue with your suggestion is IF you made something that suggested fits it wont work unless you specifically have in mind what you need. Newbros be fitting ships for pve or mixing shield and armor when they wanna do fw.
Newbros should follow advice from vets or as someone stated above learn how to fit by using the community fittings.
first i have to say, that i am mainly doing this as a project to learn about software development and not to create the best fitting tool ever.
i am planning on using a database of fittings to train the AI so it has an idea of “good” and “bad” fits.
in the end i want to have some input fields for the user and then an output of fittings, based on those inputs.
the problem with eve workbench i see, is that everyone can just upload fittings there. a lot of them are shitfits that have never been tested or they are blinged out.
what i want, is that users can tell the program which ship they wanna fly, if it should be a brawler or a kiter, what their budget is, if it is for PvE or PvP etc.
again, this is a project for me, to learn about programming. i would be thankful, if some people would give their ideas here.
i am fine with oppinions on it but i do not really care tbh.
The basic community fits are useful for noobs….but I’d argue that simply giving people more complex fits robs them of the process of actually understanding what the fits are for and why they are the way they are. No amount of easily gained fittings can do that.
Which also applies to understanding how to fly them. Which these people are usually also clueless about. The end result often is priceless poetic justice.
