For The old Guys Out there, I mean toons over 10 years old

Been here since the beginning, although didn’t enjoy beta much and so started into the live game a couple of months late in July 2003.

I’m enjoying the game a lot at the moment, and there are still things I haven’t done in game after 20 years (some of which I am trying currently) which keeps it fresh.

However, Eve’s secret sauce has always been and will always be the players. We’ve always driven the most compelling content, we’ve always been the beating heart of the universe and it’s our relationships that glue the game together. Nobody is writing history books about the evolution of game balance or systems in Eve Online.

Mechanics and systems change, over 20 years you see a lot of stuff cycle through. Hot button items like sovereignty, manufacturing, ship balance, capitals, various isk making techniques, etc. have been in terrible states before and good states before, sometimes it takes ages to iterate and sometimes not. I am fairly oblivious to it these days and just play the hand CCP deal - because at the end of the day, Eve is still really about the people.

Playing since Red Moon Rising (17 years).

The game is already great. It always has been. There is so much more content right now compared to my personal “golden years” in the game (2009-2011). Sure, there are many problems - but the problems always exist.

No, I do not. They have not addressed the core issues and show no sign of change. PvP in highsec was ruined by War Hqs. the butterfly effect is gone for the same reasons. The economy is run by TTP bots on zero margins and 100% market share to them on all real markets. The game is just too far gone. Look at the jita plex market right now. Ive spent more time writing this than playing eve today for all the stated reasons. The game was ruined in 2017 for me and all players like me.

Won’t you take a look inside the EVE store, friend? There are some good deals there that will perk you right up. Plenty of PLEX, skins, and skill point extractors that players like you crave for a fun and exciting EVE Online experience!

perfectly put even though im in an npc corp these days i daily spend time chatting with the various mining and local chat groups where i currently reside and some of them ive known for 20 yrs just through eve.
Dont get me wrong most of my time is solo play but only because if the mrs thought i was in a corp again she would just smash my pc up but its the people in eve that make it what it is still after 20yrs the only game that has entertained me for all that time

I know for a fact the nerfing some years ago is costing them alot. I myself stopped playing for a few years. I returned because I still love the game. But at least 6 players that where spending a good amount of money that I know IRL are not returning even after I tried to convice them. Can’t blame them, looking at how much long term investments (tons of time and real money) where destroyed. If you allow a select few to lobby for changes suiting them then don’t expect more then a select few to hang around.

She wears the pants eh?

Can pretty reliably tell who is a miner and who isn’t just by looking at their marriage dynamic.

lol she can wear what ever she likes as long as i spend the time i do gaming

id like to say i could mine but that takes up even more time i just dont have the time to get set up only to have it ruined by some well intentioned gankers wanting to enjoy their game time also

As a filthy miner , you are lower down in the food chain, your time pillaging rocks is irrelevant.

That’s what we need an eve food chain list, so you know your place in eve. That would help new players I’m sure

Been playing since 2004 and I wrote in the Dev Blogs back in 2008 that if CCP would continue the way they were Eve would eventually fade away. Then two weeks later the Devs came with this tantrum. It was a subtle way of introducing what would reveal to the total flop of Dust514.

When CCP took to the website the sale of ships and the uprising in Jita following that stupid move I think things got low for the game. Now Eve is a pay to play - pay to win business scheme with vanity items and other things sold on the Eve website for the sole purpose of revenues. The game is about cash as much as Wargaming inc. is but CCP it’s far worse. The “free to play” is just part of the scheme to get players to put the plastic on their accounts. I’ve been in two alliance and it’s all about the same kids showing off their Navy ships and T2 frigs with more or less coherent fittings. Quite boring stuff to my taste. Everything now is dull and all serious like Eve is more of a chore during work than a game. Peeps are mining for ever to pay themselves PLEX to continue playing. Eve devs brought in the game the “have and have nots” system of exploitation of the real world in the virtual world. There is now working class, a middle class and a upper class in Eve these days. That’s why things are so serious now in Eve. Who would have thought this even possible twenty years ago. The delirium of the old days is far gone for ever in my opinion. And if you try to get a good laugh and have a pint of delirium peeps block you up so you can’t do much to change anything.

This “cancel culture” kids we have to deal with these days will kill the old Eve for good. If you don’t comply with the very serious of the game play you are cancelled period. There is no recourse against that.

Yeh used to be 15.00$ CDN a month now it’s 30.00$ CDN a month. You really take me for a moron. Do you have anything else to say? Just try to change toons on your jukebox once and a while it will do you good…

Here that’s my philosophy these days.

Nono, you stated “Now Eve is a pay to play” which means that according to you it didn’t used to be before. Also, it didn’t double so that’s a second lie.

I wrote that Eve is now a “pay to play - pay to win business scheme”. Eve has adopted both ways to transform players into cash cows. Some companies will use a once pay to play, season pass and vanity items from their store. Some sink into the micro-transactions and that irritates everyone. Then you have Wargaming inc. at the bottom of the Loch Ness pond along with CCP and will use the “pay to win” scheme.

You don’t HAVE to buy plex or any of the packs, or anything else. You can play for 18 years and only ever pay your sub, like you always could/did.

It exists for people who want and it seems people WANT it because if they didn’t CCP would stop bothering or create better offers. Since they don’t that means people like and keep buying that stuff so who’s fault is it then? Personally I’m not a fan of it, I will get something if it’s a really good offer but beyond that I don’t feel a need for it but that doesn’t mean I want it gone, if only because for a lot of people it seems worthwhile, so they keep playing… which helps me and everyone else.

I’m completely fine with someone else having more or doing better than me, I think that is the main crux for many people: envy.

Also yes, WG is a bag of dcks. Still, people keep buying the premiums and other crap so same thing: apparently people WANT it.
