So it shouldn’t work near gates either
Personally I don’t think it should work anywhere.
I don’t think one should be able to resolve the consequences of being imprudent and foolish by fitting a module like this.
There is. Bring a webbing alt or don’t stack 30 Billion in your freighter. You have to wonder why someone’s bumping you to begin with. No need for extra modules to protect you from your own poor choices in life.
Couldn’t that just as easily be used as a bumping module?
I think they never think about how theit ideas could be used almost 100% of the time against them
It’s like they forget that very important detail
It is not like, it is exactly that.
So many of these ‘ideas’ are knee jerk reactions to something that has affected the proposer personally.
I got bumped and exploded, bumping is bad.
Lets invent a module that pushes peoples ships who are attempting to bump me.
Great, no other thought necessary… TO THE FORUMS>>>>>>
No thought given to how it affects the whole of the game
No thought given to how it would be used outside of HiSec (or other sec/WH space from where the OP lives)
No thought given to how someone else might use it against other players
No thought given to how it could be used to grief/troll
It would make infinitely more sense to just have the module make you immune to bumping, to where all other ships simply bounce off of you without affecting your align.
The only question is… what if two ships using the module bump into each other? Unstoppable force meet immovable object.
Oooh, I’d love to fit this module on my bumping mach. Just think, I get to keep speed and control after successfully bumping all those people who don’t fit this module.
Didn’t think this idea through, did you?
How about a module that prevents bumping by quickly accelerating your ship forward?
That way you could easily evade each and all bumping ships, reach the gate quicker and can just jump!
There should be no bumping system in the first place if the players decide to bump him(suicide) that mines he is on the collision course and you know what happens next
if the eve is a hard core game with risk involved then the system shot work like that one the picture frigate bumping Freighter byby frigate and 10-15% damage to Freighter the bigger the ship the bigger the damage you now what i mineThe simple mechanic that should be employed is mass times acceleration.
A ship with the mass of 100 tons traveling at 100 m/s bumping a ship with a mass of 100,000 tons not moving will see the smaller ship simply obliterated as it slams into the motionless ship.
The reason being is that the mass of larger ship absorbs the kinetic energy potential of the smaller ship.
If 100 smaller ships of 100 tons each bumps the freighter at 100,000 tons at 100 m/s the freighter would be moved due to the amount of thrust and mass being more than ability of the mass of the freighter is able to resist.
A single destroyer should never be able to bump a 100,000 ton freighter.
But in space there is a resistance that is not present on Earth. That resistance that is lacking is the water that the smaller ship must also over come to bump a ship out of alignment.
Wow, thanks for highlighting my post.
Yeah suicide gankers would love this. Kill the ship carrying huge cargo value without drawing concord and using even cheaper ships.
Yeah, this horrible idea has been beaten to death.
Please use google next time FFS.
You didn’t read my post through did you? I clearly mentioned the problem of having them used to counter the solution itself. Including the question of what happens when two of these collide. Assuming your not just being a dick with your post, I would propose a possible answer to that question though, make the module reduce your ship speed to basically 0 for a short time allowing aligning only, then once the cycle ends have it boost speed to instant-warp capable, this cycle would be long enough to prevent abusing it to make slow ships accelerate faster than normally possible, and prevents using it for offensive bumping purposes.
Only issue with my solution is I’m not sure how current code would handle this mechanic, given how ancient it is.
I 100% agree with the people saying the game needs a hard counter to bumping as a mechanic, not just for highsec use, but for the entire game as a whole. I’m just not quite sure how.

Issue is, it would be mix/maxed with suicide ramming ships for maximum isk efficiency by gankers very quickly. Imagine a 25m isk BC instantly destroying 250m isk exhumers and surviving cause the BC is larger.

Or suiciding noob ships with MWDs into a freighter until it dies…and all those noob ships are free. And if you upgrade to a T1 frigate it is still a damn site cheaper than catalysts with a full T2 fit.
Bumping causes damage is a baaaad idea.

Really, what is the “hard counter” to people mining in a skiff or procurer while in an NPC corp? Suicide ganking? Then suicide gank the bumper. There you go, a hard counter.
The effective hard counters, from the perspective of a competing miner, are:
- bumping
- outmining the opponent’s roids specifically, in high yield ships
- letting rats, which you rep, kill him
Then let them crash if the player decides to crash(Suicide) a ship in to a another player which caused the accident he will pay a penalty up to 1-10 bil(if the player is in the corp/alliance the payment should be 1000x more) in high sec.
if you crash to somebody in the back off the car it is 100% your fault and for that you need to pay the penalty for cause an accident and the victim because you caused the accident.
Of course you shot get the same message when you try to turn off the safety for a example
(Warning you are in a collision course with other ships do you wish to proceed)
now if the player decide to do so he will immediately be mark as a criminal and there’s no turning back he will pay the penalty for this.
now if the players decide to not to crash(Suicide) a emergency thrusters is activated making crash(Suicide) impossible.
and 2 things will improve
-
crash(Suicide) players will lose lot off isk
-
victims will have to pay insurance more often
