Forsaken Fortress – Coming 26 May

Yeah I see now. I was so excited reading this that I briefly saw, “update of Kicking Over Castles, from 10 December 2019” and assumed this would have an ending date.

This is a great change! No more free tethering! Players have to actually think about where and why they put structures down and have to maintain them!

Yes, CCP Aurora posted on Reddit that May 2nd is “D-Day”

Woot!

Count me in. I gotta resub for this. Thank you CCP. It doesn’t fix everything, but it’s a good start.

Edit; I was only unsubbed for 2 months, but it was like a tooth infection the whole time. :sob:

This could end up being left with Hisec Corps having only rented office space inside NPC stations and a lot less structures.

Maybe a slight hit to industrialists who manufacture the structures as the demand is lowered.

Would keeping the idea of hacking a structure on the back burner help? I still like the small chance of hacking one, but don’t mind waiting.

Hi,

Personally I have concerns about no asset safety.
If I had commitments in real life and log in back a month later, and my structure got offline and destroyed and all my items in it lost due to no asset safety, I will surely quit the game forever.

Although I am still new and have no structures yet

I suppose I am the dissenting opinion here. It is already something of a liability to use player owned structures for an independent player, as you to risk losing access to resources that are put into asset safety for a time and lose any stored clones. Now there will be even less incentive to use them.

At least players should get warning mails or notifications that stations where they have assets enter the abandoned state, as we have no control over if a station is kept fueled up, so I foresee people avoiding their use. If you own structures this will hit your profits.

Why not store extra fuel? You do realize that structure with 60K m3 of fuel and one service module runs for ~90days?
7 days is perfectly reasonable.

‘very expensive’ - one service module consumes only ~200M worth of fuel in 3 months. Is far from expensive - even newbros can afford this.

This will be a good change.

Perhaps missed an opportunity though to create a content driver by some chance to take over the abandoned structure–but don’t have a good suggestions how to do that.

As it is this should in time cut back on the structure grinding in the off chance there is real territorial dispute (hehe).

No poors

A whole month. Damned fuking generous.

I’m stuck in the middle of outback Australia due to Covid 19 with patchy 3g internet and no computer.

Seems my 15 and a half year Eve Career is coming to an abrupt end.

2020 the year I should have gone to live in a cave.
Lost my caravan to bushfires, a month later it cost me $2,000 to fix my truck due to flooding, Covid 19 hit and i’m stuck on the outskirts of a small country town in the Northern Territory indefinately and now CCP decides my years of dedication to Eve is worthless.

If some ‘veteran’ decided to go afk for months w/o even bothering to move assets to npc station… why would he assume his assets would be still there? You wouldn’t assume assets inside pos are there months after you have gone afk…

In general i like the abandonment mechanic for stations its long overdue but i have problems with the no player asset safety . yes lock corp hangers and modules at abandoned status and 50 % drop & loss im all for break the corp for failing to fuel but not so harsh for the average player 50% asset safety 25 drop 25 loss for a start gives something for every one or even 3rd s .
also something not mentioned contracts will they now show the power setting of a station or will they get removed the instant a station is at abandoned as it will be impossible to get or put to safety you would need to fly to the player station before excepting them now to be safe

hmm… diversify? You never learned that diversification of stocks is a way to protect yourself from shocks?

Good riddance.

Guess what the idea behind citadels was.

FFS!!

because there is asset safety

This one is not isk sink, but it is means of getting rid of stockpiles of stuff locked up in abandoned structures.
