Neither am I, so I don’t know why you’re making inapplicable assumptions.
I don’t need to, it’s simply not a good argument to begin with.
There is never an “even 1v1” PvP, even if there are solely two participants. So from the get-go you’re trying to argue based on some mythical idea of “balance” that does not exist in reality.
No one is making that argument. (Edit: I am interpreting “with more skillpoints” to mean “go buy injectors to git gud”)
Exactly. Actual knowledge-in-brain experience matters. I mentored a newbie to the game who wanted to learn PvP. Took several days to get him spun up. We took our alpha accounts – having not even spent the entirety our free 1M SP, so less than 2M SP combined between the two of us – flying in a Rifter and Slasher with very low SP, and the very first kill we got together was a quarter billion ISK blingy Punisher.
Yes. And it is not Eve Online so the entire paragraph is wasted words, unless you’re busy discussing the only Arena in the game which is the Alliance Tournament. But we both know you’re not.
This guy just wants to reallocate his Gallente Destroyer V skill points after doing his stint ganking for Novus Ordo and live a miner life, apparently.
An injector is always more expensive than an extractor. If a person wants to get unallocated SP and has skills they never use it will definitely be cheaper to buy an extractor than to buy an injector to obtain the unallocated SP.
And yes, I ‘honestly know a single person’ who has done that, because I got rid of some unused skills on an alt this way, which saved me some money on buying injectors for that alt.
I did this on a char. extractor sale, mining/refining (left scrap metal as I still use that)
taken out and put back into marauder 5 train and such.
Even with the sp hit due to cut offs, worth it. I don’t play with rocks anymore. Closest I get to rocks is with this char on the mining plexes in angel FW. And there I shoot NPC mordu battleships when no real players swing by lol.
If its restricted to people less than 5 million skillpoints, id be okay with that.
But I know that OP wouldnt be happy with that, because hes already at 30 million SP.
You can already do this. Why bother making another avenue?
So, how long does it take to fly a T1 battleship? Anything beyond that, and youd have to make an argument as to why its a good idea for anyone to be able to fly any ship at almost any time.
Were not just saying “No”, a lot of us are giving arguments and reasons why its a bad idea.
Please stop being dishonest.
I said under 5 mill would be okay with me a long time ago.
Thats kind of the point. You have to pay a pentalty to respec your character. A point you missed, despite being told it many, many times.
You get so many SP from the many, many events throughout the year, though. Why bother going through this when, for example, the winter nexus event in a couple weeks will give you 500k SP?
I’ve seen richer irl players back in the day really just skip over learning the hard way in frigs and t1 cruisers to get a char straight into hacs+.
All they did was speed up wallet draining losses. Rest of us just took our knocks in up to t1 cruisers. Much cheaper new to eve lessons that way.
there are lower sp venues out there for the willing. I will pitch fw. Empire or pirate, either has strong points to it. A decent stepping stone if 0.0 f1 spam monkey a goal. Of for those who lived in the blue donuts, well its a very cool time.
Many new bro non-t2 fits are out there. It can start with one simple thing. Enlist.
Yeah dont do that. If youre new, unless you know youre gonna get SRP’d for every loss, go fly a T1. Why go T2? Why would you sign up for a tournament of champions for tennis when you just started playing? Same reasoning.
Once you know exactly what skills to train for a specific target, you can reach it with surprisingly few SP. I have an alpha noob on just 2.2m SP that is already flying a T2 laser 600 DPS Gnosis. I have other alphas with 5m SP that can’t fly it !
The only must be 5/5 pvp angle I see is high end solo. Kiki as an example is a ship worhty of all 5s lol. with the actual ability to use it. Ngl I am back after a long break. My 14 years chars could fly this all 5’s (minus weapons, never trained them so Id be a fast 3/4 levels). I’d still die to a semi-competent player.
5 years of wow pvp has not been kind to my eve actual play skills lol.
A miner, an industrialist, even mission rat killing bear won’t be hopping in to that. If minmatar they’d be better served starting off small. even ye old baseline thrasher.
It be nice if every target you met went deer in the head lights to die. t1’s frigs and dessies are great learning tools when that doesn’t happen though. and cheap for when “you didn’t want that ship anymore”. I’ll save some the e-stalk. I really don’t want a lot of ships of late.
That is benefitting bitters more than these theoretical new players.
they can plex spare accounts for the new fotm of a patch yet to come. Or say be a returning bitter who is going to find out their 3 suicide frigate cyno alts are now broken.
And passively train recons to cyno again…not paying for +4/+5 implants to speed it up.
Also I don’t think you’d like the conversion rates. I seem to recall when learning skills were removed they gave all a flate level of 3, maybe 4 for stats to train with.
I remember some dev saying/posting they were thinking about removing the the “training a skill over time” aspect (including atrributes) and turning it into “gain unallocated SP over time” that could then be spent on skills. Can’t remember where/when it was though.
New player of like, not even a full week here. What the heck kind of random spam build did you make? Most skills train pretty quickly up to rank 2~3. You should easily have the basics unlocked by a full month in.
Usual suspects are people who realize mining sucks. and went full on mine/processing.
Or its a fotm trainer who wants the easy way out. No. FOTM comes at a cost. Even I have paid it. Many times. This newer char trained up to ENI to be like all the other cool kids.
When/if balance comes…I get to keep those skills even if not wanted anymore… How that goes. I’ve trained many fotm’s over the years. Train FOTM, enjoy it while its good…and move on when its nerfed. this is the eve way!
At least there are extractors now. My first ones used was not a hard call. Long ago Nagflar was split weapons. then it went all guns. I was stuck with xl missile skills. At least nag stopped being that split weapons crap, fair enough trade off at the time.
And when I came back to see extractors…XL missiles were magically extracted away.
