Frigate Escape Bay - Feedback Thread

When can we expect a Catalyst escape bay for mining barges?

This is a cool feature. Honestly if people think its useless. Don’t use it. Done. I will, even a cheap Rifter is more fun than a pod. My combat pod skills are maxed out too, yea have no damage application at all.

And why just the other day such a frigate saved at least one pod our fleet was trying to wreak in null. In WH space this is just fantastic. You are often in a position to keep the pod alive and in the WH with some good choices here. My rattles are worth over 1.2B i can spring for a AF no probs. Then its do they shoot the other BS on grid… or the dual prop AF?

Great thing to come back to EVE to.

Awesome idea.

Would be even better if

  1. you replace the specific ship selection with a simple ship size/class that is -1 from current ship :
  • all super capitals can hold capitals or smaller in escape bay.
  • all capitals can hold battleship or small in escape bay.
  • all battle ships can hold battlecruiser or small
  • etc.,.
  1. allow nested setups, so you get a russian Matryoshka nested doll situation. Pilots escape in smaller and smaller ships as the one they are piloting is destroyed.

  2. escaped ships gain a time limited invulnerability buff with direction of travel and momentum, duration (10s) and velocity * 500 % (mwd bonus) * multiplied by time dilation factor. So escape bays would be less useless in laggy fights.

  3. All modules are auto activated on escape, with a temporary capacitor bonus.

The Matryoshka idea makes sense, the stored ship is fully assembled anyways and it should only take up space in the immediate ship is it stored in, not cumulatively in all the ships. But mass should be affected.
It would be excellent if you could control both ships…but the server overhead might be hell.

Good point. Mass should be affected.

Each additional ship (including nested) adds to the total mass of the “parent ship”.

Conversely, since the ship in the escape bay should be powered on always, then ship in the escape bay should also add to total capacitor and capacitor recharge rate of the parent ship.

To provide cover for escape bay, using the escape bay should simultaneously create a bomb effect, it should destroy all nearby warp disruption probes, ECM disable tackling ship, and completely drain capacitor within affected radius.

It operates as a multiple effect bomb, damage + ECM + neut.

Factors :

  • total isk worth affects damage of the bomb
  • mass ( cargo bay content + ship maintenance array content + ship ) affects radius of the bomb effect
  • capacitor affects energy neutralization
  • resistance affects damage types of the bomb
  • sensor affects ECM strength of the bomb

Application :

  • by sacrificing his own ship, pilot can destroy warp disruption probes and temporarily disable warp scrambling on friendlies via ECM / neut effect.
  • new tactical option against superior numbers
  • improvised explosive haulers : a hauler loaded with most expensive ore can seriously damage even a battleship if it’s close.
  • improvised explosive freighters : a jump freighter filled with billions of isk worth of ore can wipe a big hole in a capital fleet blob.
  • player operated IED : a cloaked hauler can use escape bay and soften an incoming attack fleet.
  • roaming hauler fleet : combined with limited invulnerability escape effect above, this is now a viable option

FC: “For God’s Sake, don’t shoot the battleship - it will destroy us all!!”
