From Extraction To Production: Update

I believe that the end of scarcity should also include the discussion of reducing NPC miners clearing belts in all of New Eden. Would prefer to see them gone but I know that is unlikely.

I mean if they were no NPC miners, would doubling the ore in sites even be needed in the first place ?

Unless CCP changed it at some point, the basic effect of NPC miners is to keep ore distribution across New Eden fairly even.

What happens (or used to, at least) is that any ore mined on a given day was redistributed randomly during downtime. This means that popular mining spots would have little ore, while out in the boonies where people tend not to travel there would be a build up of lots of ore. This encouraged a nomadic lifestyle where people would move to where the ore was instead of sitting in one place all the time.

Now, whether you’re there or not, NPCs will mine ore in out of the way places for you. Then that ore is strewn back into the more popular systems. NPC miners are an occasional annoyance, but overall there are more of them eating ore where you aren’t than where you are.

The NPCs would hurt mostly nomadic groups or explorer types who actively search for the next goldmine because NPCs will mine out an area before it can reach goldmine levels of mineral density. If a miner is of the type to have a permanent system as a base of operations, the NPCs are probably a misunderstood boon to them.

I never said it was a bad thing that they’ll die. Everything needs to die, from frigates on up to supercapitals. I just don’t think people should go thinking that these changes will make barges safer at all. Cuz they won’t.

You do know that NPC miner fleets don’t actually go to most of the ore sources for New Eden, right? You won’t find them in anomalies in null or j-space, for example. NPC Miners didn’t impact scarcity in any measurable way.

They’re safer in the sense that they can for the most part actively fight any rats (Barring :diamonds: rats). Yeah they’ll continue to die to gankers cause gankers will just bring a few more catalyst. Can’t stop/won’t stop the gank train if it wants to gank.

Yes.
And in lowsec, tenfold. And fix the respawn cycles.
And in nullsec, bring back asteroid belts. Or give us relics with ore like low and high have.

In high it’s all full with Asteroid Belts that have a lot of rocks inside, there’s just no players around mining them. At least in Heimatar and Derelik.

Don’t mind the NPC miners. That said, I do believe a lot of the asteroid belts were removed as part of the scarcity phase in null and sov.

Would be nice to get some clarification from CCP on what is available now and what will be available.

I still miss the asteroid belts in null, as the belts in hs, tend to deplete very very fast with a T2 mining ship.

It would be nice if they just put these back.

Actually, you do find them in anoms in null. Where else would they be? They don’t gate camp, and there’s no ABs in most nulls, either.

You are correct they are only in the anomalies. That said I still missed the belts. Lol

Nah, not really. They might randomly show up in like 0.1% of the anoms, but by and large, you won’t find 'em there.

not fully accurate.

people who are heavily industrial do their own PI

people who do profiteering buy PI off others.

that’s ‘meta’

giving people time to apply the vaselin themselves, because CCP would go in dry cause they DGAF

Higgs anchor. You mine while fully prealigned, at max speed. Much easier to get off grid quickly.

Higgs mining probably makes gas cloud harvesting easier as well, however the heavy mass bump make wormhole roams tricky.

Seems balanced.

For Clarity, They show up in the randomly generated ones that spawn regardless of industry index, (Small Mercoxit, Arkonor And Bistot Deposit, Large Arkonor Deposits, etc) they do not show up in the Sov Anoms which spawn based on the Industry index.

So depending on the viewpoint you are arguing from, you are both right.

well i keep loging u are rigth on that but i stop paying for plex with real money since they kill the moon ore

if the goal of ccp is made player spend money in the game then this a very very very stupid way to do that

not even the skins are worth to buy because ccp still refuse to bring the color palets a sistem who is prove no matther how greed the developers are works well with the comunity

i be honest with u if ccp drops a new plex skin witch consist in buy 3 colors for X ships so u can actualy “paint” your ship with those colors for 200 plex alot of players (include me) will gona buy that

Ya know… each time I look at this thread, it just continues to nosedive further.

ugh… that still remains 5 mins base cycle before and after changes.

Sigh… Hmm, do we need to check every single atribute and bonus and tell you wnat is wrong with each ships, or can the programming and QA be done internally?

I see the Mining Barges bonus for the Procurer seems to be adjusted for ship shield HP (I didn’t check the yield), but the Role bonus for drones isn’t appliying yet.
Same for the Skiff.

Please, just double check everything again and again and again before you release this update. This is botched work.

And I just want to say “not thank you” for what you (CCP) did with the Skiff. Tank is overall the same as on TQ, yield is crappy with Strip Miner 1 now, and you doubled it’s weight making it super slow. That new weight clearly didn’t go into armor or structure. Or maybe you wrapped it with 10 mega tons of toilet paper, hence the weight without the tank.

So here is my new Skiff for when the Patch goes live. Same yield witht the same strip miner, same tank (total ehp), and 3 times the mining hold of my current Skiff. At least, I can thank you for this one.
