Then make it more interesting to be there. The proposed click tedium of in space compression is not that, however. Nor should mining be an activity that requires your full, undivided attention. It’s a base line activity that should be as easy and low attention requiring as possible. If you really want to have more entertaining, higher attention requiring mining, introduce a new mechanic for mining in a new environment. Leave the low attention mining alone and give people new things to mine in a new environment that does not impact the old belts and anoms. The belts and anoms can be relegated to mining the baseline ores as is but new materials with higher rewards would come from new mining that CCP can design and manage individually as needed, without impacting systems that they don’t understand. All the new mining should have come from a new gameplay feature like Comet Mining or somesuch, something new that shows that CCP can do more than just fiddle with existing numbers (and still mess up). Something that is true to their recent boasting that decoupling things from each other helps make things better (see capital-subcap detaching with the new components). Something that shows that they have a vision other than destroying the fun in EVE with ever more tedium instead of enjoyment.
But as long as we have people like you who say that “AFK isn’t really EVE” and as long as we have people like Hilmar, Psych and Rattati at the helm, none of these things will ever happen.
Besides, if you really don’t like AFK, be prepared for industry to get another revamp that will require you to input new materials every other minute or hour into your jobs so that they can keep running. After all, starting an industry job and then go away from EVE for hours, days or weeks is absolutely an AFK activity and “AFK is not really EVE”, right? And what about the market? CCP themselves said that 94% of all orders never get updated, which means they are totally AFK. They should require regular updates every other minute or hour to stay on the market. “AFK isn’t really EVE”, right? What about research? Months of AFK un-activity. And lets not forget waiting for fleets in station. Hours of sitting around without any input, watching TV or Netflix and chill until someone sends a discord ping. Surely you should be required to show that you are not AFK while you wait around and should do something in EVE instead of getting distracted by TV or something else external from EVE. Right?
Would you please think before you type this kind of non-sense? You are making yourself look like a buffoon and less intelligent people might actually believe in the riffraff that you exude.
Please, fellow miners, get used to it.
Of course it’s different, but we are capsuleers, able to cope with changes.
Yeah, the “belts” are no belts any more but heaps, but I like the idea of travelling around, for it’s spaceships, no drilling platforms. Now I’ve got to find out if I invest more time to avoid any residue or just smash’n’grab for a while, destroying much of the raw material, which I usually detest. But to be honest, it’s replaced after every downtime, and most times my “home” belt isn’t completely mined anyway until dowtime.
BTW is there an explanation what these C-Type crystals are made for? Rock destruction?
My take on them
It’s a gift for nul-sec. Their ore is spawned in anomalies which needs to be cleared so it will respawn. C-types make it quicker and reduce the unneeded ore
I’m still waiting for compressed ore prices to spike 50%. That’s what should happen if these nerfs are really as bad as people make them out to be. Give it a month or two and we’ll have some actual quantifiable data to analyze the impacts of the mining changes. I’m inclined to wait and see how the changes shake out instead of screaming bloody murder. Bunch of fragile players can’t handle it when the meta changes. Go fly a Retriever, FFS. Lord knows it’s been a long time since you had a reason to use one of those.
How does it make it a fair trade off? Waste causes you to lose your ore. Get out the T1 Drones. This Patch is the End of the Orca Like CCP intended… No one is going to mine with this now … Everyone is just going to use a porpoise instead… ALOT less risk for your boosts
False. False. False. You dont understand how the mechanic is working at all.
The waste comes from the asteroid not your yield. CCP have doubled the asteroid size. And if you are using T2 drones you are wasting 34%. so 10k asteriod would be 20k which is 13.2K for you after waste.
You are getting more ore. If you want even more ore then sure use t1 drones and get all 20k of it………but thats going to be slower.
So you need to decide whats more important to you. Maintaining a good yield per hour. Or getting all the available ore.
And now that as of yesterday they have confirmed that the industrial command level bonus for drones is being increased to 15% we are pretty much back to where we were before with a few inconveniances (fuel, drone travel time in these spreadout belts and being immobile using the core). But once compression is implemented next year it will hopefully make up for that. So Im currently happliy training up for my t2 core and cant wait to get back into my orca in a couple of weeks.
People are just lazy and can’t look between the lines at the patch. All they see is waste and instantly think that it’s coming from them. CCP did word it poorly, but overall things are relatively decent. Just needs some ironing out.
Yes. There is a waste first mechanic. so if an asteriod has 2k m3 and your yield is 1.8k m3 then if you trigger waste there will be 1.8k m3 waste and 0.2k m3 in your hold. But………… in your example where you are using stripminers you could also fit survey scanner. if you know there is just 2k in the rock you could manually stop the strip miner at a point in the cycle to maximise your yield potential. Again its rewarding hands on players (yes……its a boring unneccessary click mechanic but its an option).
With drones you cant really mitigate against this but since their cycle is for a much smaller amount the times you do trigger waste wont be so impactful.
If you make sure you allocate one strip per rock and one drone per rock it can be managed.
