From Extraction To Production: Update

that’s if everyone were to be using T1 modules with the 100%, but not everyone would be that cheap, most would be using T2 modules with T2 crystals for the higher yields per cycle.

as it was even using your post, it would mean you’d be mining the same as you do currently on the live server no real change to the amount you mine per cycle and you’d move to the next field as you do now to get more.

the real benefit with the changes was if you used T2 or ORE you could stay on the same field and mine the bonus resources, so it could encourage player to invest in getting T2 modules and crystals.

waste is a new mechanics that allows CCP to do adjustments without effecting what you current get from mining during your normal mining session.

with the +100% resource increase it allows more resources to be available to mine, but depending on your mining modules, you can destroy this bonus resources.

now the trick is to get these bonus resources you have to be on grid for longer or with T2 crystals and still be on gird for extra time.

It would be near impossible to limit the number of accounts a single person has. As posted throughout this topic, Alphas are already setup this way and people point out that it is comically easy to multibox them.

The best you could hope for are the “good” players following the rules while the “bad” players cheat. This is no different than what is already happening.

I thought they suggested they are looking at that timer, but even so, just looking at the mining capability of the orca is missing the point. That would be like judging a command destroyer vs a normal destroyer in DPS. Sure it’s less, but that isn’t the point.

I think this is a very good point in terms of these ships.

Excellent points. I’m tempted to go HE for moon ores, and LE for normal 'roid belts, esp. thick ones like Pucherie. The reversal of values in T1 vs. T2 seems really dumb, but as Newbros have it hard enough already, I’m willing to take one for the team. As for ganking, Speed is Initiative, and Initiative is the real goal of Combat in any case; “you will do what I say, or else”. Evasion is at least a choice the aggressor wouldn’t generally prefer.

And don’t forget, I have the choice of making a ganker miserable in return. I don’t have to win, I just have to take the fun and profit out of it. “I’ll see you in space.”

Only if he/she is present and engaged in the activity. I’ve no doubt that conscientious miners will avoid as much trouble as they reasonably can.

The fact remains that simply buffing barge/exhumer EHP will not deter all gankers, at least, if the numbers so far presented are anything to go by.

In Highsec, ganking is just a fact of life, I’m afraid. You miners will be number-crunching for a while yet, but Dracvlad will make sure you don’t take your eye off the other ball!

They are clearly meant for petty fights between sov-null corporations

LOL I see what you did there.

I like what I see here!!! Will there still be compression waste? (I hope not, that means time mining would be wasted outright)

Well it depends, I always mine “present and engaged”, keep a close look to local and have all major ganking groups marked with low standing.
The only 2 times I was ganked it was by a small number of fellow miners that went to deposit their cargo and reshipped. They would have been deterred by more EHP, and it’s them I care about.

Regarding mining crystal waste penalties:
Miners everywhere should want to train skills to improve their mining. Higher skilled players being told to not put those skills to use is just as bad as telling lower skilled players to keep off the good ores. These are not interesting choices, they are nothing more than irritants.

EVE as a business model is not sustainable with main gameplay gankers. Those guys aren’t good for the game and should invest in other skills to appreciate the full spectrum that eve has to offer. Otherwise, their low skill/ISK investment will discourage miners with high skill/isk investment.

Just gave it a try, ran through Heimatar Highsec and looked for AFK orcas. In two hours, I bumped 3 Orcas out of the mining grid and stole their drones. Got 2 augmented ice drones and 5 augmented mining drones, or 200M isk, in exchange for less then 10M worth of suicide frigates.

The security rating loss hit from suiciding in 1.0 sec is pretty nasty though. Need to buy tags at this rate.

or because their main gameplay got nerfed until it wasn’t worth the effort any more, or it got completely removed.

You must be aware that most of them have alts with a variety of skills and competencies, spread throughout New Eden? They are very energetic people in many directions - but their main focus is Highsec ganking.

You miners should be grateful to CCP for supporting ganking activity in Highsec; the alternative would be a PVE space-theme park of mind-boggling ennui. But wait - perhaps that’s what you really want?!

Thank Goodness @Dracvlad has at least an eye to the future!

Skill still improve the yield other than giving you access to T2 items, and anyway you’ll only want to keep using T1 items on uncontested high-value asteroids that you are planning to mine all by yourself. For everything else T2 with waste is a better choice.

If you only mine high value rocks all by yourself I envy you, doesn’t seem really common

The biggest problem imho is that you can easily create a vaible ganker with a alpha account and the free 1M skillpoints. The ship will be provided by the rich omega main that won’t have his finances impacted the least, and even security status is a non-issue as they’ll just delete it after a while

Mining has low SP requirements. 5M SP for a semi-decent Barge alt, 10M for a pretty nice all-around subcap mining alt, the coming update will even reduce this as there’s no more 20 reproc skills to learn in order to be able to use all the crystals. I have no clue about Rorqual SP requirements, but on the character bazaar, there’s sub 20M SP rorqual toons being traded, so I take it that with 30M SP you can clear the ORE ship map to all ship skills maxed and mastery level 4.

Maxing Mining Frigates and Gas Harvester takes 1M SP on a freshly created toon, too, and is good enough to be making 50M isk/hour with a Venture in Vital Core Reservoirs. 80M isk/hour if you have a porpoise buddy. Just join a Wormhole corps and ask members on how to do it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
