Huh? Is your idea of fun to create the most ISK possible? Obviously, mining will not do this. If you enjoy mining so much, it shouldn’t matter how much ISK or rocks you get as the reward.
You don’t like the activity: you like the rewards from it. Major difference.
I mean, frankly ‘alien life’ exists in New Eden, Long Limbed Roe, slaver hounds, fedo, etc, just not ‘intelligent’ life. (Long limbs being amonia based is especially notable)
This is a terrible idea to add PI to moons in my opinion. It will tank the PI market. Also PI’s are absolutely a miserable thing to move vs more refined planatery interaction products.
I’m glad CCP listened to the problems of higher waste for T1 mining.
I just wish they didn’t remove all waste for T1, but brought T1 mining in line with efficient T2 mining.
As it is now, instead of newbies being punished, people get punished for mining with T2 lasers, even with the most efficient crystals! That surely should not be the case?
If someone wants to mine fast, they pick crystal B. If someone wants to mine efficient, they should pick crystal A according to the designs, but if it’s more efficient to pick a cheap T1 mining laser instead, something is wrong with the current waste numbers.
If T1 mining lasers had the same (nonzero) waste as T2 mining lasers with efficient (type A) crystals, it would be perfect: no newbies punished for mining with low skills, yet people with skills for T2 mining lasers also do not feel like they should mine with T1 for more effiency.
The activity? I enjoy a lot mining! The issue is gankers, and, of course, EVE not safe everywhere… Orca as a solo miner and 1 account, give me everything i hoped for, and I pumped skills to enjoy and taste at maximum. The first update was not good for me at all…
So you say activity? I wanna play the way I like, mining with some safety measures… If you prefer other way, congratz! Just don´t kill my fun… I though that was EVE way of thinking… clearly it´s not… and in CSM not too… Good to know…
Except that’s not really alien life. Think about it: if long-limbed roe (or more specifically, the hanging long-limb) were ‘alien’, the odds of it being compatible with human digestion is about nil. Same w/slaver hounds, in the other direction. The likelihood of similar nucleotides is just so small as to be insane.
They’re not ‘alien’, they’re just stuff descended from the critters we brought when we started terraforming.
If T1 mining lasers and T2s w/a-type crystals had the same baseline waste, then wouldn’t that effectively be ‘0 waste’?
Consider: if you have a minimum of 10% waste, and there’s 1100 ore in the rock, so that when you mine 100, 110 gets used up, then there’s really only 1000 useful ore in the rock. The other 100 effectively doesn’t exist, because it’s impossible to get it. So why not just call that ‘1000’ and keep the numbers clean?
Considering in older lore, not necessarily IC knowledge though, many planets had existing biospheres, so… its a toss up.
Slaverhounds I gladly can accept as being a descendant bioengineered creature, the Hanging Long-Limb, less so due to being amonia based and living on a fully ammonia based biosphere planet
I’m having a hard time seeing any changes to the Orca that reduce its defensive capabilities. Maybe the PowerGrid and CPU requirements will change, but I don’t see how these changes will make it more likely that ganking Orcas will increase.
EvE was never safe. And a solo Orca can still be ganked, changes or not. You making less profit from solo Orca mining would make it less likely for you to be ganked, unless the price of Orca fits goes up-- but since there will be fewer chars using them for multibox solo ops, then I doubt the prices will go up more than down.
If you enjoy the activity of solo mining for itself, then you are likely in luck, as the barges will become bigger targets than the Orca. I suspect you don’t actually enjoy mining, but enjoy the profits made from mining. In that case: I get it.
But if you insist that you love mining, then I insist these changes are moot, especially regarding solo Orca pilots, who will still maintain their relative safety in highsec even after this update.
I doubt we can agree on anything, since the topic and facts keep changing with the whim of the moment. But y’know, we both just chiming in our opinions.
I was an Orca solo pilot, in a time long ago. I thought I could relate, but now I am unsure. I did it for the isk. I have since found other ways to make isk without babysitting a defenseless mining vessel with a whale’s name-- for extended irl hours of my time.
Someone once told me “penny wise makes pound foolish” and it pissed me off then, but I am very happy they said it now.
Great and good to know… maybe one day I will ask you for some advice and to choose other way of playing this game… But for now, I´m happy living a miner way… Solo the most part, true, but happy… About the ISK, well, for now, not so important… The important is the message “rock destroyed”…
Not really. Nobody will expect newbies (or veterans) to risk multi hundred million ISK modules on their ship for regular mining, even on moons.
This will not be an issue for newbies, as most players won’t be willing to afford those.
Will there be select groups that nevertheless require those modules? Possibly… until others hear about it and start camping their moons for the valuable loot. Which I would say is a good thing.
Wouldn’t it be great if certain groups of miners got well known for efficient mining in way over the top bling fits, with combat support to fight off the inevitable hunters? Content!
I only saw Kenneth in TS speaking and, like before, is loving it! Again, all that matters is killing the Orcas afk which, as I said, and forgot the name that also pointed it out to Kenneth in the last TS show, not all are orcas afk and some are real living persons that are just trying to, the blasphemy!!!, enjoy the game as they want! I´m a sinner in that too…
I would love to see others in CSM talking about this… but where are they? Where I can read, listen, watch they are saying?
I just don’t get this update, like the one before… Maybe cause I´m a sinner… I really don´t know…
You can watch Merk, myself and Innomiate on RampageInc almost every night. We have been bitching nightly about scarcity and the dropping player numbers for two weeks now.
I agree - but in the interest of time that was left out of the blog - I did advocate for it. Eventually Pyfa will get updated and then it will be much easier to share - everything is in spreadsheets now - which are confusing in their own right
